Hi guys, I am new here. i've been reading the posts, and they are all really helpful. i took my dat today and it was the frapp test. Here are my scores.
AA 21
TS 22
Bio 23
GChem 21
OChem 23
RC 18 👎
QR 20
I used kaplan, destroyer, crack the pat, and topscore to study, and they all really helped alot, especially destroyer. When i found out that i got the frapp test, it made me really nervous, but it's actually not too bad.
Bio- i'm a bio major, so a lot of the questions on the test i knew from my bio classes. However, i've also read the whole campbell bio book to study for the dat. Some of the questions were very specific, and i had to guess on a couple. I was a little worried about the section because i was getting 18s on TS, but there weren't that many classification questions like there was on TS.
GChem- I was hoping that there weren't that many calculation questions because a lot of people on here said the questions were mostly conceptual. However, on my test there were at least five calculation questions, so be prepared to do some calculations. Destroyer prepared me pretty well for the section. Also, i think the topscore gchem was pretty close to the real thing. I was getting 18-20 on topscore.
OChem- The stuff on this section was pretty basic. Know your lab techniques such as nmr. Destroyer was a little overkill for this section, but it's better to be prepared. Couple of conceptual problems and couple of reaction problems. Topscore was pretty close to the real thing, and I got about 18-20 on topscore for ochem.
PAT- Crack the pat definitely helped me on this section. the keyholes and the TFE were pretty similar to crack the pat. The angle ranking was slightly easier than on crack the pat. The cube counting was alot easier on the dat than on the crack the pat. The folding was a little harder on the dat. Topscore's pat is also pretty similar to the real thing. I was getting 18-20 on crack the pat and 21 on topscore.
RC- I knew I was getting the ethics passage, so i was kinda nervous going into the section. The passage itself was not too bad, i feel like the other two were worse. The RC on topscore was too easy. I didn't really prepare for RC; i just did the RC on topscore. Time management is key in this section. i ran out of time, so i had to put down random answers for the last couple of questions.
QR-This section wasn't too bad. I didn't study for it at all. Just know your basic trig functions. The word problems weren't too bad. I did the easy questions first and came back at the end to do the harder ones. Again, time management is key in this section.
Overall, I am really happy with my score. My only concern is the RC score. Are schools such as UCLA going to look down on the low RC score?
My overall gpa is 3.72 and science gpa is 3.64 as a bio major. Any Feedbacks?
For those of you about to take the test, don't be nervous and just stay calm. If you do get the frap test, know that it's not that hard and don't let it get to you. Manage your time well is really important! Good luck!
