I took my DAT over the weekend (1/14/2012) and these were my scores:
PAT 20
QR 20
RC 22
Bio 23
GC 23
OC 24
TS 23
AA 22
I am really happy with my scores!
My biggest advice to any of the young SDN lurkers is to take the DAT after sophomore year (after you've taken GChem and OChem). I have no idea why our advisors don't tell us to do this. Half the time we spend studying for DAT is spent on reviewing stuff we already knew a year or two ago. Just take the summer off before Junior year to study and it'll prob be the best decision you'll ever make. I wish I had done this.
Anyways, I used a lot of the same material that everyone else uses... DAT Destroyer, Math Destroyer, Chad's Videos, Cliff's AP Bio, DATQVUALT, Crack DAT PAT, Crack DAT Reading, Achiever, and Topscore.
I never finished a full practice test, I always got bored or tired half way through. I spent some time going through all of Achiever's PAT sections. Topscore's tests are alright, I didn't finish all of them and the scores I got were lower than what I got on the real test...
During the test I barely had time to finish each section. I never had time to go back and double check my answers which scared me while I was taking the test. I even ran out of time on the RC section. I usually always always read the passage before answering the questions but for some random reason I decided to do S&D on the first passage of RC (I've never ever been successful in S&D, I have no idea what I was thinking)... I began to get super frustrated 8 questions in because I wasn't able to find any of the answers, it had already been 20 minutes so I decided to completely guess on the next 8 and come back to them in the end. I lucked out because my next two passages went by much more smoother (I read before I answered like I normally do). I had 10 min in the end to come back and finish the first passage. I really wouldn't do S&D... there were a lot of questions where they'd give 2 statements and ask whether "the first is true but the reasoning is incorrect" or "the first is true but reasoning is unrelated" or "both statements are false" etc.
Another thing I'd note for any of you studying for the DAT is to remember that every test is different. Just because one person saw one thing on test doesn't mean that's what's gonna show up on yours. Just because one person uses a study resource doesn't mean you need to also. I'd forget this from time to time and get really stressed reading everyone's breakdowns because I'd start adding a million things to my study list... like I have to do Schaums and Kaplan and Audio Osmosis and Barrons and all these other things. Sure, the more the better but we don't have all the time in the world. Not only that but we start forgetting a lot of info (don't underestimate this, it happens fast). So anyways, I hope this helped some of you. Thanks for answering any of my questions 🙂
Edit: I am selling everythinggg!! Message me if you'd like anything!
