So its finally over. Sort of.

Here's the breakdown. Hope it's helpful, I am worried I botched it up with the reading section.

Bio - 20..........Studied KBB, Cliffs AP Bio, and some of my university books.
GC - 19...........I used KBB and Chads almost exclusively. Did use a little of Destroyer but not too much as well as Crack DAT Science
OC - 23...........KBB, Chad, CDS, Again a little of destroyer. I only took Ochem 1 just this first summer term. I was super nervous about this section and spent a lot of time studying for it. Still I was surprised I did so well.
PAT - 21.........CDP. TO be honest I was shocked I did so poorly. I was scoring between 21 and 24 on all of the CDP tests and had heard a lot that they were harder than the real DAT. To me the angles on the real thing were harder.
RC - 16 🙁 ......I was blown away here. Obviously. All three of my passages were over 18 paragraphs and I fell behind after the first one and never could catch up. I guessed "C" on like the last ten questions. Ran out of time. THis sucks because I consider myself a good reader, and again I was scoring between 19-21 on almost all of my practice tests. I used Kaplan onliine, CDR. They were nothing like the real DAT for me.
QR - 19 ........I used Kaplan a ton for me study on this. Mostly just spent time memorizing formulas and doing problems. The best I had done on any of my practice tests was 18. So I was happy with this score.

AA - 19
TS - 20

I hope this gets me some interviews! I DO NOT want to retake the DAT, but I am afraid my low RC score will make it tough for me. What do you guys think? I am a 32 year old father of 4 and graduated in Business on 2004. My GPA from my previous degree was only 3.0. But since starting school last fall to take all the science classes I have about a 3.6 ish. Overall science is about 3.2 and my BCP is 3.4.

I have my fingers crossed!

Nice Scores... Congrats...

I personally would not worry for that RC score...agreed it is on the low side.. but will meet the cutoff at most schools... however, just to be safe, I would recommend contacting the schools and checking with them...

U did great overall so I am sure you will get interviews... but considering you situation I would guess you would have limitations as to what school you want to go to...if that is not the case, you are fine..

I wish I see similar scores on Mon...

Congrats again..

I applied to 19 schools all over the country. I tried to mostly stick to Private schools since I am a Utah resident and there are no in state friendly schools here.

Thanks for the boost of confidence though. I pray your right and it gets me in.

i hope you are not listing to this person... b/c clearly they dont know jack... and they haven't been through it. If i were you, by end of November or December if you do not get a single interview consider signing up for retake.

Your scores are awesome BUT BUT you have the biggest disadvantage on RC. many schools care A LOT ABOUT THIS SECTION YES MORE THAN YOUR SCIENCE OR PAT. and they have a cut out for this section and if you do not meet it you will be automatically rejected. i am sorry if i am being harsh.

Try posting this on predental form they will tell you the same thing and you will get more opinions. good luck.

I dont consider myself to be expert...and because of that I had made a suggestion that its wise to call the schools and check with them...

Considering the OP has applied to 19 schools I would highly doubt that he would not get a single interview call only because of RC....

just my 2 cents...

I agree about PAT...I got the same score as you, but yeah, I did better on CDP tests. Two days before my actual test I got 25 and 24 respectively on CDP tests 9 and 10...but I guess you have to account for differences in ease and familiarity, testing environment, etc.

I personally would go for a retake. RC is deemed as important as sciences at some schools, and if you know you're a good reader I think it would really be in your benefit to try again and show them what you can do. Good luck :luck:

Oh, and ETA: did you apply to UOP? If you're pressed for time, UOP only takes 3 years vs. 4...and it's a private school. Only drawback is that they do consider RC quite important.

Just curious... did u do practice tests.. how did u do on those.. if u dont mind sharing...

I did do practice tests. I took two full length Kaplan tests and got 18 on both. I did well on the RC on both and worse on the sciences (all of them). I also took a lot of individual section tests. I would average 19-22 on the reading from CDR and Kaplan. For the sciences I actually used CDR (which made me want to quit it was so hard) and online Kaplan stuff.

The DAT is just hard to nail down. They change it up from one test to the next. My best friend took it the same day and was actually sitting right next to me, had a way harder genchem section and much easier reading section. His longest passage was 13 paragraphs.
