I Know this thread is a little late, I applied on november 7th with the following scores

PAT 19
QR 20
RC 19
BIO 17
OC 22
GC 20
TS 19
AA 19

GPA: 3.31 Science GPA: 3.37 (Out of SUNY Albany)

I applied to NYU, Temple, USC, and BU
My brother and father both went to NYU

I am currently studying to retake the DAT with the intent of significantly increasing my bio but I dont feel like I know much more than I did back in september (Ive been running through exam crackers MCAT BIO and Destroyer)

I just wanted to know what you guys thought my chances were with scores I currently have and what advice you have for the BIO

I'd appreciate all comments

youre really really late in applying. even though schools like NYU say they take applicants up until feb. i think they have plenty of applicants already with your exact same stats who either have already been accepted or put on a waitlist. So since you recently applied with mediocre stats as well, your chances are slim. Its obviously not impossible (bc who am i to say ? ---nobody) but i think you wouldve had a better shot of applying EARLY in the cycle to help boost your chances. If you retake your DAT (im assuming in this month in december, since your 3 months if up now from september) then schools will not be recieving your scores for another few weeks after your DAT date, looking into january. (unless the school accepts Faxed score reports but most don't take the faxed version seriously).
is there a reason you decided to apply late, in november? Also are you sending the schools your fall grades from this year?
goodluck to u and hopefully you can still be accepted this cycle

I went abroad in the spring and getting my transcript asap was a disaster, I finally got it late october and applied right away

His stats aren't competitive? I always thought that an 18 or 19 is good... What am I missing?

yea his stats are average, as in, plenty of people with these types of stats apply to dent school. They are mediocre. He/she didnt score a 17 and they didnt score a 25, so theyre mediocre. Plenty of pre dents have a 19 AA. most shoot for a 20+ especially recently since DAT scores are so competitive. Theres nothing exceptional about a 19. its a good score none the less though, its by no means a bad score.
just my take.

According to this thread, 38.4% of applicants have a score 19 or better. 62% of those who get 19-20 get accepted. This data is from 2008 so I am not sure how different that is now but I am assuming its about the same because the DAT is standardized and the distributions of scores each year are about the same.
So I agree with you that a 19 isnt a bad score, but it isn't a killer score. I don't think a retake is necessary, however.
