Alright, so I have already cried and laughed.. finished taking my test about an hour ago.. no not even.

I've studied on and off since June.. during this time I had to move and separated with my husband so... yeah.. I wasn't sure what to make of my studying ability anymore..

But here are my results:

PAT 22
QR 19 (with all the horror stories.. I'm really happy)
RC 22
BIO 21 (thought I'd do better)
GC 19 (my weakest subject)
OC 29😀
total science 21
AA 22

As for the studying aids.. I began taking the Achiever about 1.5 ago, then did destroyer, topscore, kaplan tests.. hardly ever used ap cliffs.

Hmm.. what else??? I'm so excited I can't really think right now. I guess I'll post some more info later if anyone asks.

Thank you all for your help and support and .. just being here.. I often browsed topics on here and just felt less miserable studying knowing that I'm not the only one..

awesome ochem score... was it more conceptual or reaction based and did you get any tricky lab technique questions? my test is tomorrow at 12 and im freaking out.

How did u study for ochem (strategies and materials), any advice on this section? Thanks.

I've rocked o chem in undergrad, always scored highest scores possible on all my tests, then I tutored it for a year.. I have immaculate, laminated notes from undergrad, tones of flashcards.. So that I'd say was great base for my DAT o chem prep.

Besides that I used destroyer and practice exams. I didn't even study the roadmaps.. too lazy or too confident.. not sure.. lol

No tricky question, very straight forward... the reactions were one step, no complicated 5 step processes, no lab techniques... sort of laughable I guess...

I'm looking at my scores again and wondering .. how did I arrive with 21 total science when I had 21 on bio, 19 on gen chem and 29 on orgo?? Doesn't 21 total science seem low with these scores???

perhaps they are weighed differently

yeah.. I'd like to find out how... Not that I'm complaining.. the overall scores make me happy and relieved.. especially that this is my first time taking it. But I would like to find out how this was calculated. I'd expect that 29 in orgo to pull it up higher.. it's not as if the other two science were less than 20... 🙄

Each of the sciences is based on (raw score)/(section total). TS is based on (total raw score)/(total). Bio is out of 40, Ochem and Gchem out of 30. TS out of 100. Since high percentile raw scores start skipping standard scores (eg 30/30 might be a 30, but 29/30 might be a 25), it can happen that you get higher standard scores than TS score, since missing, say, the first 5 hurts your standard score much more than missing the next 5.

Checking out the example score conversion off ada:
http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/testing/dat/dat_estimate_score.pdf

Your score was bio/gchem/ochem 21/19/29
Looking at the example chart, that might have meant you got 35/40 bio, 24/30 gchem, 29/30 ochem. That makes your TS 88/100, which correlates to a 21. This is just based on the ada's sample conversion, but it seems to be close to how your real sciences and TS score came out.

Anywho, congrats on your scores. Nice consistency 🙂 good luck with the rest of the app process
