Hey Guys,

I took my DAT yesterday and i wish i did not. First i wanna thank everyone here for their help and support. I found this forum very helpful and i would encourage everyone to be part of it.

my Scores:

Bio 19
GC 21
OC 21
TS 20
RC 20
PAT 20
QR 16 WWWWTTTTTFFFFF !!!!
AA 19

I was kinda disappointed with my AA and it is because of the math, it took my grade down again. Unfortunately, this was my third and last time taking the exam. I was hoping for a better grade and i think if i got 2 or 3 points higher i could ve gotten 20 AA.

Gonna start with the math:
It was freaking hard and the questions were like stories. was not even fair, out of 40 questions around 25 i would say were word problems !!!! each one of them 3-4 lines, a minute to read and understand, another to solve it, in the end there was no time. Had 7 mins left with 25 questoins marked, more than half were not answered, i picked the answers for 10 questions and i probably got lucky with this lol. Even the not word problems were not easy, the numbers were weirdly put together and dividing them took some time 2.

i reached to the math with a good feeling that ill do well overall although my F%$%& pc froze in the middle of RC and it pissed me off.

Bio: was really random and i thought i did way better but apparently not. I studied on Destroyer ( which is a must here, Kaplan would hv not done anything for me at least in the version i got), Cliff, second important book then Kaplan ), lots of questions were applied ones.

GC: it was easy although i did not do that well in it. calculations were easy but not laid out had to do them and they were easier than the ones in math lool. Kaplan and destroyer ( felt kinda 2 much for this section, could ve done better if i worked more on easier questions 🙂 but u dont know wut u gonna get ).

OC: like GC, easy overall and mostly straigt forward. Kaplan, Destroyer, and my orgo book (dont remember its name lol, my brain stopped functioning after my exam).

RC: was OK, im an international student and i think my score was not bad. Got pantoons, epidemiology, and neurology passage. I am almost positive than i answered right each question in the last 2 passages meaning that i messed up in the first one.

PAT: it is my best section in practice and was hoping for a way higher grade. CDP is good for this section.

I have mixed feelings about my scores, the good thing it better than last year, the bad thing not that good. I am hoping that schools will pay more attention to my application this time with these grades.

Again, thanx guys for everything. feel free to ask questions. I am stuck in the airport now missed my flight bc of miscalculating the time it took to get here ( not having a good math days lately lol ).

So, I read you previous point about how you've struggled getting into dental school last year, despite the large number of schools you applied to. How would these scores compare to your previous scores?
Do you think your scores have improved?

I dont think you should have any problem. Those are good scores. Looking at everyone's breakdown seems like 16-18 must be math average so you shouldnt worry. I had bad QR too. Your third try so i hope you went up few points from previous two DAT b/c they will look for improvement.

These were my scores:
1st 2nd
PAT 18 20
QR 17 15
RC 18 20
Bio 16 17
OC 18 20
GC 16 19
AA 17 18
TS 17 19

i was really hopin for better and i studied a lot, i dont know wut happened. you think it is a descent improvement ??

I think your scores are decent. The important thing is that you did not decrease any of your section scores from your 2nd attempt. I believe in another post you mentioned you last applied in 2007 and that you're currently doing an MPH. I think with your increased GPA from the MPH and your increased DAT scores, you definitely have a better chance this cycle. The only thing you can really do is wait and see. Good luck.

Your scores are very similar to mine last year and I had 4 interviews around the East Coast so I think you have a great shot. Good luck!

Talib..remember 2 months ago when everyone was giving you a hard time? I think you just proved them all wrong. Your scores are excellent and I am confident you will get in. Be sure to keep me updated. Congrats. Select schools wisely. I am proud you have overcome the adversity presented before you. Great Job!
