DAT Done...SEPT 10

Hi,
I studied for 8 weeks 5-6 hrs/day. I took the test today. I am glad it's over, but I expected to do better..oh well..

My scores:
PAT 18
QR 18
RC 16🙁
Bio 20
Gchem 19
Ochem 20
TS 20
AA 19


Bio: I thought it was hard! I had to guess on 5-6 questions. I spent so much time studying bio and I thought I was prepared. I had the FRAP question, a histology question, and a few other random questions. I used kaplan and Destroyer.

Ochem: This section was really easy. Just know all the kaplan and destroyer. You should be fine.

Gchem: I like gchem and I always did great in all my gchem courses so I didn't study for this section much. I know I should've done some practice tests.

RC: I was getting 22's on all my practice tests. I had two science passages and one on justice and crap like that. It had 23 paragraphs...I hate those subjects. It took me 15 min to read it and I didn't have time to answer the questions haha.. so I just guessed on the last 10 questions 😱😡

QR: lots of word problems as everyone knows by now! Just skip the ones that you don't know. I did all the kaplan subject tests which helped.

PAT: I was getting 18-22 on my practice tests. I expected to get a higher score. The test was similar to Crack the PAT.

I am really worried about the RC. What do you guys think? My major is biochem from UCLA and my gpa is 3.3. Should I re-take?

Where did you apply and how many? Personally, I think you DAT score is solid, but your GPA is on the lower side of applicants. If you apply to a good number of schools I think you should get some interview bites.

a 16 is not so good on rc and ur gpa is a bit on the low side. if it were me i would retake.

I know my gpa is low! I've applied to 7 schools : USC, UOP, LLU, CRE, UNLV, CWR, NYU. Do you think I should add more schools?

I'd add more schools if I were you. My GPA is around yours (3.3 overall, 3.4 sci, 3.6 bcp) and I applied to to 20+ school just to make sure I get in somewhere. In all likelihood, even for somebody with a 3.5 and 20 on the DAT I would say to apply to at least 10+ just to be on the positive side.

Thank you for your advice. I'll add a few more schools just to be safe. At this point I am willing to go to any dental school because I really don't want to go through taking the DAT again; it was a pain in the butt😀

I had the exact same test today. That Justice crap took up so much of my time. Math was time consuming, and bio did eat up more time than anything, doubled the time I spend during the practice. Angle ranking was rediculous, chem...eh, if you practice enough its fair, ochem is fair. Other than that, the test was a blur, and time restrists again is why we dont score higher..... other than that, it was a blur, quickest 4.5hrs ever. Some guy behind me was cussing. He was prob mad...

It's interesting how we all think about biology in daily life now ...😀
Yesterday, I was taking a break and I decided to watch SpongeBob. I couldn't stop thinking about the phylum and class of Mr. krabs, squidward, and the rest of them. I kept reviewing their respiratory, digestive system in my mind....I was going nuts...so I turned the TV off

yeah, bio took so much time and I didn't have enough time for gchem and ochem. I think we got the hardest version

A tissue sample..I have no idea what it was and plus it was black and white👎

If U got what I had on my test, which were round little things clumped together , they were hemoglobines (blood cells) and the answer was the lumen of arteries because blood is in the artery. But maybe U go something diff.

I'm really in the same boat as you. Your scores are pretty much same as mine except for OC I got 17 and QR I got 21 (19/19/18). I think it is mainly my OC and RC that is prohibitting me getting interview invites. I have 3.56 gpa and applied to 18 schools but haven't heard anything from most of the schools ( 2 rejections). I think it is better to apply to at least ~15 schools. Anyways, good luck on ur application process and update us on it. I will be studying for my DAT retake on end of October.

Thank you john. Your gpa is much much better than mine. I am sure you will get interviews. I know some schools don't start reviewing until late sept.
I am trying to add more schools, but I've noticed many schools have cut offs around 18 now..it's getting so hard to get into d-school
