DAT,Done! sharing exp. and asking a quest.

hello all,

i want to thank all of you very much for all your help. i have been surfing the fourms for about 3 month before i took my DAT and i have benefited greatly.

i just took my DAT two days ago, i and i felt that i should share my exp. with you.
i have taken Kaplan prep. coruse, bought Barron's text book and used Crack DAT PAT. my scores were:

O-chem 19
G-chem 23
Bio 20
PAt 20
QR 18
RC 17
A. average 19

my score were not as high as i expected, but thats because i had fever and high temp the day of the test, i couldnt postpone the test for later because i had other things to do for at least the next month. i was especially unhappy with the QR simply because i never scored lower than 24 on any other practice test (the baron's, top score, kaplan tests and achievers)

i felt the test to be much simpler than Top-score for bio, chem and ochem. PAT was about the same defficiulty. i was getting 21 and 22's on PAT on topscore which is pretty close to my actual test. Crack DAT PAT definitely helps greatly for PAT.
if you have kaplan books for bio/ochem and gchem, i think you will be prepared fully... i wasted my time with other sources (general biology books, MCAT books~ i took the MCAT and scored 31)

good luck to all of you with the test, its nothing like the mcat (they are NOT trying to trick you with the answers they give... they are waaay nicer than the mcat ppl 😛 )

thats said, i wanted also to know what you guys think about my scores... i have a masters degree in science from UCLA, i have 3.945 GPA. do u think i should apply with those scores or should i try to take the test again (Although that will have to be in OCT)... i am mostly interested in UCLA, which is very hard to get into ><

your gpa is amazing, your DAT scores are solid (minus the RC), but i would suggest re-taking if UCLA is where you want to be.

if you decide to re-take wait to have your scores sent until AFTER you have taken the exam... just to be sure that you do better the 2nd time around. if you do worse, then schools will only see your current scores which aren't bad.

cube counting is easier than the crack pat dat for sure!
although the hole punching on the actual dat is easier than crack dat pat, i thought that hole punching was abit more challenging than topscore, and acheiver.
pattern folding is my weakest part, and i found it to be just as hard as that of topscore, (not harder i think)
about 70% of the QR are word problems; for RC, the paragraphs were small but there were about 12 to 14 of them in each passage.
