This is the DAT breakdown i just took it july 9th

RC:19
QR:15
PA:19
OC:26
GC:18
BIO:20
AA:20

I know i sucked it up in a few areas, like MATH!!!!, but i was wondering if those are ok scores to get in anywhere, my gpa is 3.45 and my science gpa is 3.5, so any comments would be welcome.

P.S. I also saw a lot of word problems in the math section, and also a few hypothetical questions in the biology section, i also feel the kaplan book pretty much sucked for the bio section.

you know what, i thought i aced the gen chem and o chem, like the questions were a breeze, i think i saw three problems i actually had to work out,and the rest were just concepts, but apparently i dont know the concepts of gen chem.

I think you're okay, but you really need to be careful what schools you apply to. Some schools require a minimum score on each section (NYU, Temple, USC, etc). Your QR might hurt because of this....so just research the right schools.

Unless Nova has changed in the past year, I am pretty sure they don't have a minimum. I made a 14 QR and got accepted. Best of luck!

CONGRATS on being done! your oc score is awesome! any tips for QR? seems like it's getting everyone and Im' trying to do my best to prepare and be warned and not blow it off like I initially thought I could. What did you use for ochem? what did you use for QR? what more do you wish you used or did again?

again good job and congrats on being done! g'luc with the rest! :luck:

Hey Juevon, my scores were eerily similar to yours. PAT-22, QR-15, RC-18, BIO-19, GC-21, OC-29, TS-21, AA-20. I completely bombed the QR section as well and am hoping that it doesn't hurt me too bad. Good luck!

wow pretty nice scores there! 🙂

so many recent DAT takers have gotten upper 20s on O-chem... and low scores on QR... so there's a trend on QR there...

i'm pretty sure the adcoms will take that into consideration because you're not the only person who's got below average on this section... so don't worry

goodluck with the apps! 🙂

Congrats on your scores!

I'm taking the DATs in August.... and I'm also pretty concerned about the QR section... any recommendations?

What is the minimum for Temple????
I'm freaking out that my 17 in OChem isn't good enough. My advisor said I shouldn't take them again but Temple is my top choice! And she knows that!
😕

thanks everybody for the comments, those really do make me feel better about the test, now for the quantitative reasoning section, all i remember is it had like 4 or 5 word problems and like 2 or 3 probability, but the thing that pissed me off was the fact that there wasnt as many "easy" problems, the give me points i guess, they were all pretty hard, so...i would definitely brush up on the math skills because i think its getting harder, doing problems in your geometry and trig books will definitely help, and time yourself on the problems

i'm curious, i'm sending my application in tomorrow but not sure how much time I should allow for me to study hardcore for the dat. I really want to secure a strong score.....how long did you study for it and for how many hours a day??? thanks!

Juevon,

how far ahead of time did you start studying for the DAT? and how many hours/day?
