Ok, so here are my scores. I am overall not too happy, and possibly considering taking it over.
Bio 18
GChem 16😱
Orgo 19
PAT 18
QR 16😱
RC 21👍
TTL SCI 18
AA 18
Bio - A lot of random questions, which Destroyer definitely helped on. However, there were a few questions that I got done to two answers and couldn't really distinguish between the two. I mainly used Destroyer for this and bio notes from class, along with my test. I tried using Schaum's, but definitely too much deatil.
GChem - this has been and always will be my weak point, however, i didn't think i got lower than an 18/19. The questions were pretty straight forward I guess, I just choked up a little. More setting up the problem rather than solving for an exact value. Again Destroyer and Cliffs was very useful. I guess if I take it a second time I know that this is my weak point.
Orgo - THIS I WAS REALLY SUPRISED! I aced almost every question in destroyer and did pretty well in Orgo 1&2 (A- in both) but there were one or two confusing IR questions. Know your directors, SN1,SN2,E1,E2 mechanisms. I mainly used destroyer again and class notes. Nothing else I could really recommend because every review book I ever used sucked. I liked my text (Francis Carey) and road maps.
QR - A lot of trig functions, and this I am even more surpized because on a practice test I got 19 and was generally good with it. Timing was really the issue here for me and I definitely did not think it was going to be.
PAT - similar to TopScore, but I only got to take like 2 TopScore section tests even though I ordered it last week and my order was never processed til last night, when I probably should have been just chilling out. TFE hard, but again my worst section. everything else very doable.
RC - I have to say Im a little surprized with this score also, but in a good way. I didn't do much practice in this area, just read up on sub topics I heard about hear. However, all the passages were very interesting and I genuinely wanted to read them slow and understand. 2/3 I couldve have used search and destroy on, but it was a lot easier to find the answers after reading so you know where to look exactly.
Ok, I was planning on applying til next cycle since I have 3 more semesters left, but was considering to maybe applying to Buffalo, Arizona and maybe a couple more, just to see what they say.
My science GPA is a 3.43, b/c of one "C" i got in high school from gen chem I, but it was my senior year and I wasn't even really considering dentistry then. However all other orgos, chem, bio a- > a.
Cumulative GPA =3.83
I also have over 100 hours of volunteer service with a dentist, 100 volunteers hours in an emergency room, deans list, and volunteer tutoring at school. I am also doing independent research on cell biology next semester.
What do you guys think? Should I definitely take it again or just wait to see if I get in somewhere else first. I dont want to settle for less, but I dont know if I could go through the stress of taking this test again.
Only regrets I have is not timing myself as much as I should've. I bought TopScore on saturday thinking I wouldve gotten it in time to do at least one test a day, but got screwed out of that since I didnt get it to last night.
Destroyer was very helpful with random questions. My bio 1 teacher sucked so I basically had to teach myself the whole thing. By those road maps are invaluable I bet I probably just made some really stupid mistakes. I though Cliffs Chem helped me a lot but I had more conceptual questions than anything else which I hate because it takes me time to think about. I do definitely recommend the destroyer as a great guide to use after you have already done some brushing up. It is not meant to teach, it meant to challenge you and help you find out where you need to approve. (And to anyone who want to hate, AS USUAL ON SDN, call it advertisement, I dont give a ****) Everyone else, your comments are greatly apreciated.
