I don't know what to do. I considered applying this cycle, now I'm not sure anymore...

This is my second time taking it.

PAT 19
QR 11 🙁
RC 23
BI 19
GC 19
OC 17 🙁
TS 19
AA 18

Normally, on my practices test I would scored 20s on TS and 17-19 on Achiever and 21s on CDP.

I'm pretty depressed... and I don't know what to do now.

Sorry to hear that. First off, take a day or two and just relax and clear your mind. Yes, you may have shot yourself in the foot with that QR score, but it's not the end of the world. What I would do first is call all the schools you are interested in applying to and see how much that QR score really does hurt. To be honest, I'm pretty sure the majority are going to tell you to re-take it, even though QR is the least important section. An 11 is definitely a huge red flag. After you talk to them and you have no choice but to re-take, evaluate your study methods. As a second time taking it, you should aim for at least a 20. Your PAT and RC are fine, so I would spend more time with review material for the natural sciences. How much did you improve from the 1st to the 2nd time and what materials did you use? You also have to take into account the amount of time you spent studying, although studying longer may not correlate to knowing the material better. It is about how effective your study habits are. I would still apply this cycle and take the next 3 months to study for a re-take though. How is your GPA?

Your other scores are all decent. What was your QR score the first time you took the exam?
As you may know, some schools say that they look for your best score. So, perhaps, if your first QR score was better than this one, they may consider that one instead.

so I just looked at my old scores- my qr score then was a 15. Unfortunately.

Overall, except for qr, my scores today were a one point or two higher compared to last time. I'm not exactly sure what happened to me during the test, but I don't think I realized how much time I had left.

I studied for a about three months. I used destroyer, ap cliffs bio, princeton review physical and biological sciences, CDP, TS, and Achiever. I pretty much made studying my life.

Don't schools look down on people who take the dat for a third time? You're advice is much appreciated. Thanks guys

I think most schools are OK with the idea of taking the DAT 3 times. I interviewed for UCLA's alternate list last year and since I knew I had a slim chance of getting in I asked my interviewer whether or not they look down on people who retake the DAT? She told me that taking the DAT for 3 times is not a big problem, but when people try taking the test for the 4th or 5th time, that's when the admission officers start doubting whether or not such applicants really belong into dental school. So, I don't think the fact that you've taken the DAT 3 times is a big problem, specially since you've improved the majority of your scores. About that QR score, it's low, but at least we all know most schools don't really scrutinize that score. I guess you should just apply with these scores and see how things will work out for you.
Good Luck👍

like said above, most schools say QR is the least important section, an 11 might be too low. I got a 18AA and 19TS, but lowest was 16 in QR. I still got in. Just make sure you AADSAS is complete and in ASAP and then call the schools and ask if they want you to retake. but still get your AADSAS in now. If i had mine in at this point last year, i am confident i would have had more interviews

Thanks for your replies. I thought I was completely doomed. I don't know why I didn't think about this earlier, but couldn't I just retake it in 3 months and update them my scores? Like say if I do better again.... but this time at least a 17 in qr. Wouldn't that work? Do I need to put it someone on my app to say I will be trying again in 3 months? Thanks in advance.

Yeah I would definitely take it again in 3 months then. There is a section on the AADSAS where you can indicate the date of a future DAT. They will probably wait until they see those scores before they start reviewing or re-reviewing your file. Once you get the new scores in, I would fax the unofficial copy to each school directly until they receive the official scores.

Honestly, my math score was because I failed to use my time wisely. I got caught on a couple of problems and tried to work them out... What I should of have done was moved on. I was just tired at the end...

Thanks for your support. I really do appreciate it. So far, I plan to retake it again. Hopefully, this time I'll blow them away. Thanks again for your help.
