here are my scores

PAT 22 👍
QR 18
RC 18
BIO 18
GC 18
OC 20
TS 19
AA 18

here is my opinion:

Bio: well...i dont agree with you guys who say this was easier...to me it was harder...i didnt know the first 3 questions so that was a bad start...i also had the infamous sea urchin question...there were some gimme questions like the smooth muscle nuclei and some other freebies but i cant think of them

GC: i also dont agree with you guys who say this section was easy....there were some molarity questions and enthalpy and entropy questions

OC: ok i agree with you guys on this one...ochem was pretty easy (notice the 20)...i had the infamous 5 step sythesis problem also...IT WAS THE FIRST QUESTION!!...other then that know friedel crafts and aromatic properties(huckles rule), and sn1 sn2 E1 E2

PAT: i thought the keyholes were pretty easy...the top/front/end had a couple hard ones but most of them were pretty easy...the angles were way harder!!!!!...i did some touching of the screen and that helps a little....folding had about 2 hard ones....cube counting was the same...and patters were pretty self explanatory...i even saw a couple things that i had already seen in kaplans stuff!!!!!!! so know that ****

RC: the passages were on xrays, neurotransmitters, and comets like other people have said...they were harder then topscore becase you had to infer alot of things...it wasnt just like look for a couple words and find it in the passage.

QR: there were a couple trig things that i didnt know and just like everyone else i ran out of time and had to guess on about 5-6...there were some simple interest problems and basic algebra

testing center: the people were really nice and the dat is in a new form from what i remember it being last time...but no big deal...just the layout of the screen is different

so in closing i am relieved kinda...but does anyone think that i could get into UOP with these scores and a GPA of 3.26 with my father and brother being a dentist and having over 1000 hours of shadowing/working in dentistry.

time to finish filling out the ol' AADSAS now...good luck guys and thanks for the help throughout the studying period!! 🙂

Well congrats! I imagine that if I'm taking my test the 6th it should be similar to yours... but who knows.

apply and see what happens. Though it's very hard to find UOP acceptances on people with your kind of scores.

Did you get nervous? I'll be taking it for the first time in 22 days. I am kind of scared. Do you think topscore worked well for you?

congrats ! You have a good set of scores. All your scores are 18 & above and I've heard 18+ is a competitive score. Were all 3 reading passages equally challenging? What was your strategy for tackling the reading section? Did you try answering questions before reading the whole passage? Were your topscore scores (for the reading section) a lot better than 18? Thank you so much in advance & I wish you the best of luck.

yes i think that topscore did alot of good things for me...the only thing i would be cautious about in topscore is the reading....it is very easy and you dont have to infer anything...on the real thing it is harder

for the reading section i used part of my break to write down numbers down the side of my scratch paper so that during the RC i wouldnt have to write them...then i just wrote down main ideas and words that stuck out in my head that they might ask..i think this is the best way of doing RC...i had to guess on a couple of the end ones due to time

i think on topscore i was getting 20s or 21s on the RC section but last time i took the DAT i got a 19 on that section so go figure i went down haha

i cant remember the three questions i didnt know...poop they arent coming to me at all sorry

i used all the kaplan stuff including the flashcards which are nice to relax with the day before the test, topscore ofcourse, and the 1001 questions in MCAT OC which i think helped me on the OC sections...but the OC section i think will be fine for anyone with kaplan materials...the mcat 1001 book does give u some really great practice though, and ofcourse i used THIS FORUM!!! i really thank all the people that helped me while studying...someone actually wrote all all the trig functions and unit circle and sent it to my email (thanks dude) and it helped alot....so ask your fellow students and then give back when you are done like so many people on here have done...

Thanks for the advice. I am getting disappointed. I have one 18 and two 17s for topscore's RCTs. If you got 20 & 21 for topscore's reading tests and got an 18 on the real test I guess I'll get 15 or 16 🙁 This is horrible because for everything else I am getting 20 and above. I don't know why I can't do well on this section. I always had the wrong impression that Kapalan & topscore reading tests are more challenging. 🙁

maybe its just that when you are actually taking the dat you have already been doing like 2 hours of thinkig before you take the RC or something...i dont know but i did notice that for topscore, the answers are in the same exact words and order and on the real test they will say it in another form where u actually have to think and not just spit it back...just keep practicing and you will do fine...and hell even if you dont do well on that section and you rock 20s across the board dental schools will love you 👍

i think the comets was the easiest and the neurotransmitters was the hardest...i felt like i did better but you never know with questions like "what tone is the author portraying in the last paragraph" haha

Thank you so very much for the quick reply. I am planning to take my test in July because I want to improve my reading... a bit and do extremely well on all the other sections to offset my weakness. I am a bit hopeful because I've got as high as 30 for QR & 22 for the sciences & 24 for PAT.

WOW...you will do fine...im more of a visual artsy kind of guy so the PAT was pretty easy for me but it is all the sciences that give me a tough time(go figure im a bio major and biochem minor)...with those scores and some confidence you will kill that test i guarantee it
