I have never posted, but have been a frequent reader for the last few months. Although this site can be fairly intimidating with all of the high scores, I certainly have appreciated seeing people post scores that I can relate to. This is why I felt obligated to post mine, and my thoughts about the test, which I took the today. I am bummed off my scores but I have to keep telling myself that I have only been taking sciences for two years (post-bacc), and I don't have the foundation that a lot of others have. Not that admissions people will care about that, it just makes the blow a little softer. So here are my thoughts which I don't know how helpful they will be seeing that I didn't do super good
Bio: RANDOM! Not all of it, but at least 5-7 questions way left field. In my oppinion Kaplan is not enough. Possibly take a peak at your old bio book. Especially the molecular genetics section
Gen Chem: Never been good at it so didn't expect much...Not too many calculations
O Chem: Wasn't too bad. The reactions are are basic.
PAT: I had been getting 20+ on all my practice tests. I believe I missed most of my points in keyhole. I just wasn't seeing it. I suggest finding additional PAT study material. I had Kaplan down. The actual DAT has much more abstract...everything!
RC: I am assuming my liberal arts background helped me in this one. My passages were pretty straight forward. Started out reading the passage, wasn't working, so I search and destroyed all three.
QR: I knew I sucked at math but WOW. I never got above a 16 on practice tests, and that is all I hoped for. The ratio of doable questions to impossible questions(for me) was definitely heavy on the later. My math abilities are non-existent. Luckily I came to terms with it along time ago, so I am not too shocked.
There is my breakdown for what is worth. Now the moment of truth...

I submitted my scores, and will wait to see if I hear anything. But yes, I will be signing up to take it again. However, I will be taking a few weeks off studying. I guess I will throw it all out there. I have a 3.8 gpa which includes pre-reqs, physio, and biochem. I have what I consider a significant amount of quality volunteer hours, and have presented a research poster at a scientific poster session. I wish everybody good luck, and will answer any questions, but as you can see I am not really an authority on anything DAT related 🙂
