Hello this is my first post
and this is my first DAT
I took mine early this month
PAT: 26 (99.8)
QR: 25 (97.4)
RC: 19 (53.3)
BI: 22 (95.2)
GC: 23 (94.5)
OC: 26 (97.7
TS: 23 (97.7)
AA: 23 (97.9)
I took prep class at KAPLAN
Study materials i used were 2 books from KAPLAN course and online material but i hate reading books so i used online material mostly
Campbell for Immune System section on biology
And my OC professor's lecture note booklet
i dont think i can really help anyone else how to study for each subject but any here you go.
PAT: ever since i was young, almost all my hobbies are related to Perceptual ability. I solve Lubik's cube in one minute. (its not that hard once you learn how to do it) so i have pretty strong perceptual ability. for the test i trained my self to imagine the 3-D object given in the test in my mind and tried to move it around. I recommand training your Perceptual Ability if you have enough time before your test. (there are a lot of resources for this) and study for DAT questions right before the test
BUT... this did not helped me any on angle ranking. angle ranking was pretty hard. For angle ranking i tried to imagine a perpendicular line and compared the newly formed angle. but i think everyone have their preferance for
QR: I came from Korea when i was in 9th grade. my 7th grade cousin visited me from korea while i was studying for DAT and he had Math homeworks harder than my DAT questions. and math is one of my favorite subject.
RC: English is my second language and i am not good with any language skill. i am happy that i got 19. I finished solving the last question 10 sec. before the section ends. i was too busy to think whether it was harder than practice or not. I just tried to focus on my passage without thinking anything else. vision/croc/fungi
Biology: I only had 2 months to study for DAT and i spend about 40% of my time studying for BI. Subject was just too broad to cover and i am not good at bio. i used online workshop mostly. i studied trying to relate every key items in each area and that helped me memorizing better.
GC: I wanted to study with my GC book but i sold it long time ago. I just tried to figure out why does the formulas and the laws are true.
OC: I tried to memorize all the reactions first. but this did not work out. so i changed my strategy to think critically what happens to the reactant when they are in the given solvent whether they lose proton or not, and tried to think how electron density is distributed
Highest TS i got on practice exam was 21 but the real test turned out to be good so i am happy. 😀
my sGPA is little less than 3.5
Good luck with yours guys
