Hey guys,
Took my DAT in July and wanted to get on here to share my scores and thoughts, however, as everyone in here knows, the application process is very time consuming. Anyhow, here are my scores and thoughts. I will also include my DAT scores I took in September of '08 for anyone who is feeling a bit down on a disappointing DAT performance. If nothing more, I hope this will provide a little motivation and hope.

I was very pleased - probably obvious - with my scores the second time around, especially compared to round 1. I took the DAT the first time around without the patience and diligence that is necessary for an acceptable score. I realize everyones standards are different, but I was not happy with my result the first time around. It was intimidating to see those kinds of numbers after 4 hours spent sitting in front of a computer screen knowing that this has a large part in determining my future.
What I can say confidently about the DAT is that it is a mix of hard work and luck. Anyone with a solid work ethic can be successful. Put in the time and you will be very pleased with your result.
If youre worried or nervous beyond belief, I can relate, but its all in the preparation. Get your hands on the right materials and sacrifice some of that time spent in front of the television or at a bar (although not all of that time, b/c you will need a drink here or there to get away from a potential brain drain). With that said, if anyone has any questions about the route I took then please PM me and I would be more than happy to help. I realize my scores arent astronomical, but my message isnt directed to those with that talent. Again, if you have any questions or need any study material (I own a lot of helpful resources) please let me know. This site is great for those who want to make a difference through dentistry. Good luck to all of you. Prepare and persevere!
