Hi. I just finished taking my DAT. I wanted to know if my scores are good. I am planning on applying this summer 2013. I live in NJ so I wanted to know if schools in the tristate area would accept me (ex: UMDNJ, NYU, Columbia, Stony Brook, etc)

I got a 20 PAT and a 21 TS and a 21 AA.
For the percentiles, they were about 80, 91, 93

What do you guys think??

Good job. We had nearly identical scores and I got into NYU so you stand a chance there for sure(didn't apply to the others you listed)

If you apply early and do well in the interviews you will get in for sure. My friend got into UMDNJ with an 18 but he had a 3.96 gpa. If your gpa is good , you definitely get in for sure with one of those schools granted you also interview well. I think you just got in my friend.

thanks guys!
my gpa is a 3.63 : ( and i have no clue about my science gpa but i tried calculating it and got 3.48 🙁
i took the dat today and im planning on applying as soon as the application is available!

but i heard the average scores are increasing every year so that is why i am scared... i know a lot of ppl get mid 20's and high 20's nowadays so i thought i got a low score.

19.8 is the current average for accepted students. That means you have higher DAT score than half of the students who get accepted (probably closer to 70%+ @ 21AA.) I wouldn't worry bro.

Those are great scores... Well done!

How was your test? How did it compare to the practice material out there (i.e. Achiever, QVault, Chad's, Destroyer...)?

Honestly if you study like crazy the test will seem really easy. My friend studied like crazy and she got a 23 and the only reason she didn't get a 30 was because of time issues. I also ran out of time on math and pat. I only used Kaplan (I took the online course) and I did the Dat Destroyer (not the destroyer math and not the destroyer for orgo just the basic one).

Honestly, I didn't like destroyer at all. it is much harder than the real dat. I did about half the bio in the destroyer and only 1/3 of orgo and 1/3 of gen chem. I didn't do any of the math. This is because the questions are way to hard and the test isn't like the destroyer questions.

Kaplan was also very detailed. The real DAT was most similar to Kaplan but easier. If you take a Kaplan test, you will definitely score higher on the real thing. I would get 18 AA on Kaplan and got a 21 on the real thing. For me, I know I could have got a 25 AA on the real thing but I didn't finish the math questions (I guessed on 17 out of 40) and I also didn't finish the pat (I guessed on the cube counting and the pattern folding). The science questions were normal. I didn't know what some things in bio were so I got those wrong and same thing for chem and orgo. Some questions mentioned things that I never heard of in my life.

I really suggest Kaplan despite all the posts out there that say Kaplan sucks.

like I said, I only used Kaplan course materials and did very few dat destroyer problems.

Great job. The only school that seems iffy is Columbia. If I remember correctly, according to the ADA dental school guide book, the average AA,TS were 23s.

well, i was calculating it based on what i think i am going to get this semester. that's why i was unsure
