So the application cycle opens June 1. If I took my DAT on July 30, would it still be considered early if I had my application before I took my DAT?
Let's say you wouldn't be considered late. But keep in mind that there are many applicants who submit complete applications (DAT scores included) on June 1st. So, if you're taking your DAT on July 30th, your scores won't be sent out to schools until hmmmm...let's say somewhere between Aug 15th-20th due to the time required to process your scores.
Keep in mind that AADSAS usually doesn't start mailing out applications till July 14th. So, by July 20th, most schools will have your application, but they won't have any DAT scores to look at. All this means you'll probably get the secondary applications later, which will in turn mean that you'll get a later interview which means that you'll be competing for fewer spots.
Nevertheless, taking the DAT on July 30th and getting a decent score is much better than taking it any time sooner, when your not ready, and messing it up.
A friend of mine took her DAT in August last year; she got AA:21, and she got accepted to UCLA.
So, if I were you, I'd just focus on the test for now.
Good Luck
