I know this question has been asked several times, so I'm sorry for the repetitiveness but just clarifying- I took my DAT August 2014, and I'm debating between applying this coming cycle (June 2015) or next cycle (June 2016).

If I do decide to apply in 2016, that would be less than two years from my original test date, but by the time the cycle ends in December, it would be more than two years! I'm kind of worried and I really don't want to retake it but also I don't want to apply before I feel ready!

Thanks!

Only school you might have an issue with is UOP if you apply in 2016. I believe they have a 2 year timeline for DATs.

Here is an email I received directly from UOP, best to check with the school you are applying to.

DAT scores cannot be more than 2 years old from the anticipated start date.
Thank you.

first, thanks so much for the reply! i loved the dat destroyer!! it was my life for at least a month haha

and since UOP starts in the summer, technically an august 2014 DAT would be valid for the july 2016 start date, if im doing my math right?

This was the response I received from UOP

Our cut off is November of the 2 years prior. For example, for this current application cycle, scores older than November 2012 will be considered expired for this application cycle. If a student took the DAT in August of 2014, he/she can use for this application cycle and the next application cycle, but not for the application cycle starting in June of 2016. I can only speak on behalf of Pacific’s DAT policy, not other dental schools.

So your scores would not be valid July 2016.
