first and foremost I have to thank everysingle person on SDN, you guys are amazing especially urserah, osiams, harrygr, dr. reo, mistoothlady, and orgodox.
Ill get right to it and please tell me what you guys think and what schools should i apply to. this was my 2nd time i took the dat and ill explain what i did different each time. I have 3.78 overall gpa 3.7 science...have research on prochiral drugs effect on prostate cancer under my belt....200+hours shadowing Im a "WICHE" student, im also a minority (asian) dont know if that counts lol....and english is my third language (no i dont have an accent)

AA-19 (73.5%)
TS-21 (91.3%)
OC-23 (92.9%)
Chem- 18 (59.1%) thought it be at least in the 60 region
Bio-23 (97.6%)- REALLY HAPPY BOUT THIS
RC-16 (16.6%) ouch
QR- 16 (50.9%) SCREW YOU
PAT-15 ( 25.5%) ouchhhh


i was really shocked when my scores came upi thought i did horrible in bio and i was just really uspet after that section...the first time i took it i got a 14 in bio (13.3%)

THE FIRST TIME- All i did was study Kaplan cuz i didnt know nebetter...i didnt even know bout this website...and all i have to say is kaplan is the biggest scam ever they make u think that your in great shape that u dont even need ne other sources i was getting great scores on their tests...i didnt even know bout hte destroyer, achiever, or topscore bc they really made me feel like i didnt need to look elseware so those of you who only studied kaplan and didnt do well there is hope!

The second time- I started studying May 7th, i studied about 6-10 hours a day and about 15 hours a day in the last week...in fact i studied till 430am the night b4 my test (STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS). However i only focused my time on science particularly BIO (as u guys can prally see from my posts lol) I started with SCHAUMS greatt book but boring to read BUT IT WAS GREAT!! You will know everything on the bio section if u knwo this book....neways i read started with that and spend 2 weeks on it (2 chaps a day) made sure i knew everything on there...then went on to the destroyer...even if i knew the answer on that i looked at all the option and wiki things i didnt know...and post every single question i ever had on here......which was prally the biggest difference maker....i read through kaplan bio,chem, and organic...and then tackeled chem and organic in destroyer i went through the destroyer 4 times! i failed to take time on PAT, Reading, or MATH...but im hoping my big improvement and my really nice high scores in science will overshadow it.....the last week i did all the top score and achiever and went throguh each options even if i knew the answer went through everything on it...twice...OH YEA i forgot to mention i went through schaums again for the 2nd time going through 1 chapter a day starting June 1 as well which also helped out A LOT

ill post the topscore and achiever scores if yall wnat me to...THANKS AGAIN Y'ALL ...u guys are seriously the best...and everytime i'd come on here and see everyone score so high and say how much this site helped them i always wonder did this really help them that much IT REALLY REALLY DOES take full advantage of this site....finally in the end

TOP SCORE ACHIEVER DESTROYER SCUAMS is a must!!!!!!!!! at least for me they were the diff maker...thats what i did diff the 2nd time and it really paid off for the sciences
screw KAPLAN dont take their class...u dont need their tutorial...take online if nething!

That was me last summer. Kaplan and NOTHING else...and I got 20+ on every section...so it definitely is different person to person...they're really not THAT bad...

congrats on the retake those are pretty good scores, hopefully your sciences overshadow the others. i am currently studying schaum's and i was wondering did you know everything on the classification section? i feel like a lot of it is way too in-depth, also were there any questions on plants? if so, what area- reproduction, photosynthesis...?

i made sure i knew all the classifications because i remem the first time i had ridiculous names i never heard of....and i made sure i knew them this time...but it i didnt have nethis time....and i would strongly recommend knowing everything bout photosynthesis, different types of plants (what makes them different).

i used there book and course and classroom....classroom was worthless they just go over the book...but then again i guess it goes with who your teacher is they assigned us some1 from Mcats and when i went to them to ask something about TFE she was like ireally dont know how to do this...i never took the dat im just reading from the book i was like are u F*** kidding me that is why i hate kaplan and hold everything against them

I feel ya. I stopped going to the class after 2 weeks. I believe their materials are one of the best, but the classes suck. I heard teachers get paid something close to minimum wage. Which means that we shouldn't have expected much from them.

when i was going through it i thought it was hard.....i would say its bout 20/10 conceptual vs calc.......but then i was really nervous too and if i thought bout it i would of done better in this section....i know i missed a simple MOLE TO MOLE quesiton lol...bc i looked at it and i couldnt figure out the answer bc i was thinking too much and when i fgured out and was like oh this is easy...time up! i was so mad and then giong into PAT thats all i could think bout ....so i have to stress dont worry bout the section b4 after you've moved on

haha bastard. raped me in orgo. =P oooo well. really happy for you. you raped the sciences. good job =) damn that gpa is nice too haha wish i had that. would be so much easier to get in with that score and that gpa than with those scores and my gpa haha =\ either way you are done. science scores should most likely overshadow other scores although that PAT score might hurt you some. check the schools you apply to and make sure they dont have a cutoff so you dont waste money. anyways congrats, go get some sleep haha. you deserve it =) ill talk to you on aim

Scores arent bad. The sciences are pretty good. Hopefully the PAT and math wont hurt to much. The RC you have a good excuse for, English is not your first language. Good luck with your application and apply to schools that dont value PAT.

Hey Congrats, great science scores! Thanks for the shout out lol. Quick question: Any advice on the math, you did better on topscore then the real thing, was it not the stuff you prepared for on the actual test?

Congrats on the good scores! But I agree with DC in that you shouldn't be too harsh on Kaplan's BOOK although I agree the classes are NOT worth the time...

just fyi though...they get paid $18/hour....RIDICULOUS and far from min. wage!

haha thanks y'all i would say there was maybe 1 question in bio that i had no idea about....and maybe 3 questions that i was 50/50 on....again a lot better then the first time i took it and knowing for sure only about 5 questions i got right for sure while taking the test...so ya achiever top score destroyer and schuams helped a lot.

The teachers at the Kaplan center near me (State College, PA) pays extremely well then because the MCAT and DAT teachers get about $25/hr. Maybe it depends on the center, but I wouldn't think they would make minimum wage.

Seems like everybody has mixed feelings about Kaplan.

I took a Kaplan course from Feb. '08 to May '08 and the online content helped me tremendously. I guess it just depends on how you use the material provided.

DATers beware: Kaplan might not be enough preparation for some test takers, but it is definitely a great resource. Just a thought.

math i pretty much ran out of time.....which i wasnt doing i never did on top score...i thought the questions were similar to top score tho but i honeslty dont know what happened...i thought i would of gotten at least an 18 on math
