Hello SDN,

I just want to say THANK YOU so much SDN for your help! Here is the breakdown of my DAT today...

Bio: 21 😎
Genchem: 20 😳
Orgo: 21😳

PAT: 21👍

RC: 21 🙂
QR: 16 :meanie:

Total Sci: 21 (91.6%) 😀
Academic Ave: 20 (87.6%) :xf:

I studied hard since mid-August after a much needed Vegas trip haha. I averaged around 5 hours a day while still trying to balance life and stay sane. I know it's not the usual AA's of 22+ but I'm pretty happy and relieved at my scores since I was SOOO depressed after the Natural Sci section because I thought I did so much worse.

Bio: used Cliffs, this website http://mhhe.com/biosci/esp/2001_gbio/default.htm#ok , and one of the Bio outlines provided here on SDN (thank you to whoever made this). Like everyone said, "know the big picture." I was really excited about this score since I never got higher than 17 on Topscore practice tests.

Gchem and Ochem: Chad's and Destroyer. Surprisingly the bulk of the questions seemed to come out of no where. The wording was weird. Both sections were conceptual-heavy. Know the chemistry behind the road map reactions in destroyer, don't just memorize! I thought I was the most prepared for these sections but I thought they were NOT as basic as everyone said (just my opinion, maybe I just suck at chem haha).

PAT: Keyhole was doable but had an amazing variety of shapes. TFE wasn't too bad. Angles were okay (I thought CDP was harder). Hole punching wasn't bad as well as cubes. Pattern folding was insanely harder than CDP in my opinion. CDP scores: 18/20/21/21/22/21

RC: I don't want to reveal the passages I got but all i could tell you is that I wasn't piano'ed lol. Topscore was very good practice. I would read the first 4 paragraphs and then tackle all the questions pertaining to those paragraphs and then do the same until the passage was done. I suggest you actually READ the passage in its entirety (i'm a decent reader but by no means a GOOD reader). I was so nervous about this section since I know how much schools LOVE a high RC score.

QR: The death of me...I blew this section off in my studying and it shows. Only did 2 Math Destroyer tests. I just didn't have enough time since studying for PAT and the sciences took longer than I expected. If you could do all the tests in Math Destroyer then you should be okay, unlike me.

I only took Topscore sciences and RC

Don't be discouraged by low practice scores!

I am a fourth year at a UC applying next cycle with a sci gpa of around 3.25. I am going to try really hard to bring it up in the next 3 academic quarters before I graduate. I am a California resident, so what do you think my chances are for schools like UoP, NYU, USC? I will be applying to all the california schools as well as A LOT of out of state ones (for a total of maybe at least 25 schools). I am mad at my QR score since it is below the 17 cutoff for most schools. Should I be worried?

I wish I got an AA of at least 21+ but I am still satisfied. I obviously don't need a retake since I did well in everything EXCEPT QR right? Any opinions welcome and greatly appreciated! Good luck test takers!
