Hey guys,

I wrote the DAT today in buffalo (4927 main st.) at the prometric center. My grades were ok:

PAT: 20
Bio: 21
GChem: 23
OChem: 20
RC: 20
QR: 22
TS:21
AA: 21

so basically, a 21/21/20...i'm happy, it could have gone a lot worse. I actually drove up with my family from toronto. We left at 6 am and my exam was at 3pm. We wanted to beat the traffic at the border.

anyways, all I can say is that the PAT is easier than DAT achiever for sure but harder than kaplan or topscore.

Bio: pretty good, just a lot of general stuff. Some crosses, hormones, stuff like that.

GChem: everything was easy, know topscore and you'll be fine

OChem: I got a 20 but i didn't know anything. hahah even still, know Sn1 and Sn2 and E1/E2. The rest were simple reactions.

RC: Easy stuff. I like when they ask what the tone is or what this means blah blah blah because you don't really have to search to find one word in the entire passage...you just have to get the general feel

QR: I thought I could have done better but oh well

All in all, i'm sooooooooo glad it's over and I hope I can get into a good school.

Thanks for all of your help you guys, it was very valuable. The future is look bright for dentistry! 😀

Hey there. I am applying to Canadian schools also, 3-4 of them (haven't decided which ones) but for sure UBC and Western and UT. Only reason I haven't included it in my sig is because I didn't feel like it was "relevant" for this site...with all you Yanks 😀

Congrats on your scores!! No doubt you'll get in.

If you don't mind, I'd like to ask for some advice...

I want to take the DAT as soon as possible. Should I take the DAT after Org. Chem I, or should I wait until I have taken both Org. Chem I and II ? For the Biology section, is there any other material covered in the DAT other than Biology I and II?

Thanks!

The organic chem on the DAT was really really simple (even though tha was my worst section). I only studied half of the Kaplan blue book (up to Carboxylic Acids). Anything else I learned from doing practice tests. I don't think you need any classes at all. Just study the Kaplan book and you should be ok. The Bio stuff was kinda general too. You'll need the Kaplan Blue book and probably Schaum's for Bio if you want to do well.
