I really relied on this site to help me set up a study plan and figure out which resources to use - so hopefully this will help someone else!

I took a kaplan class because I was really rusty and then used a couple other things to supplement the sections. I studied for four weeks full time (4-8 hour days, weekends off) after completing the class.

DAT
Bio - 22
Gen Chem - 21
Organic - 21
QR - 20
Reading - 24
Perceptual - 20
Academic Average - 22

Bio - DATqVault and Destroyer
GC - Chad's Videos and DATqVault
OC - Chad's Videos, DATqVault, Destroyer
QR - DATqVault
Reading - nothing
Perceptual - Kaplan, Chad's angle rankings

I also took full length practice tests through Kaplan - the diagnostic, midterm, final and 2 practice ones after that.

I'm really happy with my scores - I think the most important advice I can give is just to stay calm and make sure you eat a good breakfast! Now I hope I can get into a school somewhere.....

Good luck everyone!

Awesome scores! 🙂
Must be a great feeling to be done... [sigh]

Did you not utilize Cliff's AP Bio at all? Only KBB?

I don't think it was the KBB- its the huge book that comes with the class. My questions were really random but I think the best approach is just to eliminate the answer choices that are clearly wrong and go from there!

How was Chad's angle ranking?
I just tried some and they seem WAY too hard compared to CDP...

Yeah definitely way harder than the real thing but everyone was saying the kaplan angle rankings were way too easy. I think on the test the rankings were more similar to kaplan than chad's!

Awesome, thanks!

I'm glad all these sites are now geared to the DAT as a whole rather than a section or two 👍. Chad's only did OC/GC/QR when I used it last year, and QVault only had Bio section, but each served me well!

For angle ranking, CDP was almost on the same level as the real DAT exam, and Kaplan was too easy. I'm not sure if you have to pay for it now, but Ross's PAT questions were pretty good too for testing out your angle ranking abilities.

Yeah, I feel privileged to have all these resources.

Sure! My average DATqVault scores -
Bio - 20
GC - 21
OC - 20
Math - 22
I really think DATqVault was EXACTLY like the orgo and chem sections. They were the most beneficial to me for sure

congrats on being done and the great scores!

ques about qvault - so did u see some of the random gc and oc questions that showed up on the gc and oc qvault tests? (mostly conceptual)...also, did the DAT have some of the weird reagents that came up on qvault?
also, did u go through all 10 of them?

Thanks guys!

@onebigsmile here are my kaplan scores from the final, practice test 1 and 2 (which were harder than the real thing aside from perceptual and QR)
Bio/GC/OC/QR/Reading/Perceptual
Final - 21/17/19/25/20/20 (AA 20)
Practice #1 - 20/18/18/21/24/22 (AA 20)
Practice #2 - 20/21/17/23/22/22 (AA 21)

I think the main difference was that kaplan stressed calculations in chem rather than conceptual questions - and 75% of it was conceptual, with no calculations at all- instead you just had to set up problems. I would always finish the kaplan tests just as time was running out for my sciences but for the real DAT since there werent calculations I finished with 10 minutes left and had time to go back to check the ones I had marked.

The math section was a lot harder. Still had the same type of problems kaplan had but to a harder degree with tricky wording. Definitely use DATqVault practice for these!

@member 8586 the dat didn't have any weird reagents - chad covered all the basics in his videos. I did do all 10 of the tests from qVault in bio, chem and OC- its really good practice!

Hope this helps!

You studies and did very well. This means you can do very well in Dental school if you apply yourself. Congratulations.

Thanks guys!

thanks...did the actual DAT have any of the weird concepts that came up in qvault? i felt like there were a lot of random gchem and ochem concepts and definitions (ferromagnetism, nodes, HOMO LUMO etc)

as for QR, DAT was similar to Qvaults QR? which was harder?

@biomolecmed my gpa isn't great from undergrad so i'm applying to a lot of the private schools as well as pitt, temple, maryland and new jersey. I've been in a post-bac program to raise my gpa but I'm still nervous about getting in somewhere.

@member 8586 - the node concept DID come up but none of the other weird stuff. I would just read the explanations in qVault once and you'll remember if any of it comes up again. As far as QR - I really think the difficulty was the same, except my score was lower for the actual DAT. I was getting 22s on qVault and ended up getting a 20 on the real thing.

Do not worry too much about GPA. I have seen people go for Master's to improve their GPA. Some private schools accepted them then. You can do it. Good luck.
