So I took the DAT today and I'm pretty satisfied with my scores (except for PAT 😡 😡 ) I don't think I would have done as well without SDN, so I'm going to try to help everyone else out. I don't know if i'm allowed to post questions I saw on the DAT, so i'll just give some general advice.

PAT: 19
QR: 23
RC: 25
Bio: 22
GC: 23
OC: 29
TS: 23
AA: 24

SNS: The SNS is not hard. I would say it's a lot easier than topscore, kaplan, and achiever. If you are scoring 18+ on these exams, then you are ready!! I finished 30 minutes early and spent that time stuck on three bio questions that i'm sure i missed 🙄 .

Bio: I got the sea urchin and buffer question. My test had a lot on ecology and evolution, taxonomy, and....more ecology evolution. 👎 I used Kaplan book and Schaum's.

Gchem: Very basic knowledge tested here. I remember one question asking how to balance this equation (N2 + H2 --> NH3) I laughed out loud. Kaplan blue book is sufficient here. I never scored above 19 on my practice exams.

Ochem: Again, very basic knowledge tested. I think i had like 5 questions that delt with chirality. For example, I got a question on counting chiral centers (there was 1 chiral carbon haha). I used MCAT 1001 questions, and the Kaplan book.

PAT: Angles weren't too bad. I thought they were comparable to achiever. Hole punching was easy, so was pattern folding and cube counting. I think I lost most of my points on the object passing and TFE view.

RC: Very shocked with my score. I think my highest practice score was a 23. My passages were: Ca+ channels (easy), aging(somewhat difficult), antibiotics (very easy)

QR: No idea what I missed. A lot of word problems/algebra. A couple easy probability and trig questions.

My general advice: Don't stress too much. I think Kaplan is sufficient for scoring 20+ on all sections (except PAT). Unless you want perfect scores across the board, you don't need too much study material. Good luck to everyone!

Great scores! I'd be surprised if you didn't get accepted to all 4 of your schools. Congrats!

thanks. your scores are much more awesome 👍 .

congrats on your scores, i guess you took it at culver city...
how long did you study for
how did you pracitce for qr and what was your practice test average
did you use kaplan road map for rc or went straight to the questions

lol, it looks like 22+ is becoming the average on DAT 😉
in your predent profile you didn't talk about your dental volunteering and shadowing experience or your sci gpa...

btw, take usc off from your designation cuz i am 100% sure that your are going to get into either UCLA/UCSF (if not both 😉 )

Oh i took it in Gardena, it's closer to where i live. Are you from the LA area?

My averages for RC were:

Topscore 1,2,3: 20, 20, 23
Achiever 1,2,3: 20,21,23

I went straight to the questions and started answering. I never tried the roadmap method. Good luck on your test!! 🙂

thanks for the advice. but I think my advice is better. don't study. don't care. trust fate and wing it.

kaplan is king. I read thru it once.

congrats! those are really good scores. can u post ur other scores up from the practice exams? also did u think that bio was really specific? thanks!

awesome scores man! competition is gonna be tight this year. Well, either that or sdn consists of the top 1% of applicants and we'll all get in!

hey, on the ochem section, were there a lot of reactions or mainly basic stuff? Where there a lot of test names, like what is product of tollens, etc.?

Nope, no name of reactions on my exam. I had a lot of basic reactions, like "what is the product of this reaction" and they would show me a tertiary alcohol reacting with acid under heat. I don't remember any E2 reactions, mainly Sn2, Sn1, E1. I had one nomenclature question.

what did u use to study ur QR..im doing so bad in that section. thanks in advance!

Good job confused... So from your post, was Schaum's and the Kaplan enough for the Bio? Im mainly gearing towards OChem and Chem...

Achiever and topscore go over all the main points that you need to know for this section

Yes. I'm sure the questions i missed were hidden somewhere in Schaum's.

Nice score ConfusedOne, but I'm thinking you should probably change your name. Maybe to something like "NotatallConfusedOne"

haha thanks. actually, i visited your blog a while back and saw your scores and that motivated me to study my ass off. so i must thank you! 🙂 i didnt do as well, but i was so close to a 25 AA 🙁
