DAT food and locker Q

you're allowed to go back to the locker during break right? i haven't been feeling well and would want to be able to go back to take an aspirin or drink some coffee or eat something quick? review math?

someone earlier posted they weren't allowed to but how can they do that when they don't even let you have kleenex and water at your desk during the test?

also, what's a good thing to eat for an afternoon test? coffee for suuure!
 
After natural science and PAT, there is a 15 minute break. You can just keep on doing the test if you want but I'd suggest you take the break. You can go to the restroom quick, go back to your locker and get some snack/drink, or better yet do both. The last thing you want is getting pinched in the corner by the nature's call while doing RC. I know it actually happened to one of our SDN members. Poor him! Make the best use of the break but do it in time. Oh yeah, there may not be any snack machine available. So bring some of your own. May I recommend redbull and snickers? :laugh:

yea i def. will take the break. any advice for PREtest food? nothing super big i know but def. gonna eat lunch -something with a lotta protein?

i dunno about the snickers and red bull though. not a fan of snickers and red bull still makes me slows me down more than it speeds me up and reminds me of red bull and vodka and then i just think about being downtown. i was gonna bring a soda - plenty of sugar and caffeine- or pop a caffeine pill - faster and still effective

i just dont' wanna crash by the time i get to QR or look silly trying to chug my soda in 5 min. I did it during practice tests and I didn't crash during QR- i think the nerves or being almost done were on full speed at that point. Trying to build the same effect with drinking red bulls during the breaks, so far no stellar results like i did when i had the soda in the first couple of breaks.

ok wow too much soda talk...back to studying what's on the exam 🙂
 
Just make sure to bring a bottle of advil with you....my lunch was an energy bar and 2 advil--you defintiely don't want a headache walking into the reading passage

I'll probably bring an energy bar too and yea everyone keeps saying how they wish they took aspirin or something during break. I just done wanna mess myself up with taking that and a fully caffeine loaded drink like soda or coffee or a caffeine pill. I guess I'll bring the aspirin and see how I feel 🙂

are you keep a watch in your pocket? i don't wanna be breaking for too long and miss my RC counter starting.
 
I'm planning on eating the same things that I eat before a long run. Carbs the night before and a clif bar about 30 min before the test, another clif bar during the break...i'm already stressed out, I don't want food to make it worse.
 
Yeah, I would definitely bring some pepto. My stomach sometimes hurts like crazy when I'm all nervous about a big test. Get the liquid kind, not the pills. The pills suck.

Also, I wouldn't have that much caffeine before the test. I had an espresso shot from starbucks right before the test to get a caffeine jump without all of the water, and I was still dying to go to the bathroom during the last half of the PAT portion.

My meal before the test was mostly protein with little carbs. I get a sugar crash after about 2 hours when I have too many carbs in a meal.

When you get your 15 minute break, TAKE IT! I got up, went to the restroom, ate a granola bar, and actually went outside and walked around the parking lot to get my blood going again. Try looking off in the distance to relieve your eyes since they will be focused on the monitors for a long time. It'll help with the headaches. It only took me ten minutes to do all of that.
 
lol i really hope i can go to my locker cuz i feel like i'm gonna be bringing a big bag with all this stuff! i feel like thats a lot to put in my system - pepto + caffeine pill/coffee/soda + granola bar + aspirin...waaaayyy too much! gonna bring it and see what i feel like i'll need though, thank you for the suggestions!!!!

what's your big protein meal? i remember before big game days we had pasta dinners the night before to prep so that sounds familiar but yes def. trying to avoid eating lots of carbs before the test. i want that blood to go to my brain and not my tummy (woooooo sympatheic nervous system!)

good high protein meals for before the test suggestion? still dunno what i wanna eat before.
 
I think I had a big turkey sandwich on low carb bread, and yogurt. I originally planned to just have a protein shake, but I was afraid that it was going to make me have to pee even more during my test.

i had kleenex on my desk when i took the exam. But not long after the test center people came in and took it away. He didn't punish me or anything, just gave me a sorry smile saying they cannot allow it on the desk.
I also had a watch placed on the desk.
 
thank you for the tip. That's nice that he wasn't mean but yea i just don't want to be even approached for any of this stuff cuz I'm pressed for time enough without some interuptions, even if they're friendly.

*and I don't eat turkey so gotta find something else 🙂

I remember it was pretty busy at the center when I was taking the DAT so all lockers were filled except for number 13...
