Would my DAT from around august 2006 be valid still or would I have to retake it for the upcomming cycle? I scored very well on it but I am worried that it would look bad even if it is still valid because its been so long. Any insights on this? Thanks.

Many schools will not accept. A few might though...

ahh ic. Man that sucks... I am not too sure I can score as well if I retake it. Its been a while since I hit the books. So basically, its up to the schools if they will take it or not? Or is it a ADA rule that limits it to 3 years?

I believe that it is up to the schools. I know that some schools have three year deadlines so you will want to call those schools to determine whether or not they will allow it since you are cutting it close. Other schools do not explicitly say..so I would call them too. There may be an official time limit but if there is I would guess it is further out than three years.

Another question. If I retake the DAT and happen to score lower than the previous (which is likely, considering I've been out of school for 2 years..) would it still be better than using an old DAT?

by the way, I got a 24 AA last time. It would be tough to repeat that I think. But if I really have to retake it, I will give it my best shot.

Damn, why did you wait 3 years to apply with a 24 AA? lol. You should be halfway to graduation by now 😛

biggest question is.

If I end up scoring less. Lets say a 20 or something, would it really screw up everything? Or would it still be better than using an old DAT (if they let me use it). It will be tough, I wont have much time to study for it at this point I think if I have to take it.

Obviously my GPA is not the best so I really need everything I can get.

Hmm would it be possible to send out the apps on time, then update my DAT later on? Like lets say I study for it for 2 months non stop and take it in july or so (from what I remember you can indicate on the application if you are planning on taking the DAT at a later date), and update my DAT after I take it. How would that factor into the admissions decision?

thanks

when you submit your application through aadsas, it doesn't actually reach the schools for 3-4 weeks or so. i asked the admissions person at my school this same thing and he said that it was fine to take the dat maybe a month after submitting. you could possibly ask schools directly if you like, but i would guess that it isn't a problem.
