DAT Gen Chem Question

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I will try my best to explain,
Just think which one will give you higher voltage when you oxidize species further on left.
negative delta E means thermodynamicaly infavorable.
Positive means favorable.
so, if you oxidize all species on Al(s) metal would be most thermodynamicaly oxidizable since it gives higher voltage.

For a spontaneous reaction.
delta G<0, delta H<0, delta S>0, delta E>0

I have attached the question, from Kaplan DAT test I took. Can someone please explain this for me? Thanks in advance.

I hope it is embedded for easy viewing since this is my first time I'm attaching a file.

When they ask you which one will readily oxidized (ie strongest reducing agent) You need to look at the potentials in the reverse direction since all the answer choices are in their reduction potentials. When you do that, you also need to reverse the sign of the cell potential.

Now look for the most positive one🙂

E is the reduction potential.

So if E is positive, it'll be more easily reduced.

Conversely, if E is negative, it'll be more easily oxidized.

Key thing....remember that E is -reduction- potential and you're good to go.
