DAT/GPA vs interview

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It's more like a step IMO. Pass the screening by gpa/dat -> Interview -> Accepted.

you don't get the interview without the numbers.

Both. No one on her really can say for sure since we are not on the committees. I doesn't do any good to think of one as more important than the other. Would you slack on one or the other if people thought it was less important? No. Just try your hardest on both.

all of them matter. numbers get you to interview, but screwing your interview means no acceptance.

which carries more weight?

Let's put it this way. Do you really think admissions committee will consider GPA that took years to finalize or DAT that required weeks/months to prepare with equal weight as a 30 minute (average) interview? I think it's pretty self-explanatory.....

Some schools have said that the interview is 50% of your application. Although I would say that, for most, the interview is only "a significant portion" of the app.

The answer to your questions is, yes, yes I do think that some ADCOMs will consider them to have equal weight.

Something I realized at each of my interviews was... In the end, schools would rather fill their class with normal people with good/great grades than weird people with perfect stats. I was even told in an interview that they are looking for people that they "want to see and spend time with for the next four years." Which sounds to me like the interview was going to be a significant portion of the application.

I still do think that numbers/ECs/LORs get you an interview and the interview gets you the acceptance, however.
