Maybe there is someone who can help me out there. lol I have taken the DAT twice and I still havent gotten an exceptance to any schools. I have had a few interviews last year but nothing solid. I work a 9 to 5 for the federal gov and I dont know what I need to do. I graduated with 3.7 cum gpa and alot of: shadowing, community service, and research. My last DAT score was a 16, I know thats low but it was worth a try. I have retaken a few undergrad classes and I am currently auditing in a chem class but im not sure if thats what I need to be doing? I took the kaplan test prep class and still no real results. Where and what should I be doing to improve my score? PLEASE HELP

Your GPA is good enough, I wouldn't worry about doing any more classes (unless your sGPA is significantly lower than your cGPA)

You should go to DAT Discussions board and get ideas on how to study and what materials to use..

The kaplan test prep class is terrible and a waste of money btw.

Your DAT is quite frankly terrible... You need to retake that to be taken seriously. You'll have to study harder. There's no magic solution to getting a good score. That's why the test is in place. Good luck...

Thank you for the advice. Kaplan does suck and I have to find different materials to study. JdogDMD what materials do you use to study? I went to University of TN dental school this moring to talk with the dean of admisions to get some advice and once I told him my score the look on his face was priceless. lol🙂

you are right about taking classes it doesnt help. I think if i can find new study material i can really improve my score. If you have any advice on materials let me know.

Get as many practice tests that you can get your hands on and take full length tests over and over again. Even if you've taken a practice test already and went over the answers, wait a few weeks and take it again. I had about 15 practice tests and took each once twice or more. When I think about how much work I put into it, I cringe, but I got a 23.

practice tests are great study materials - but use them to study from to, mark which ones you got wrong and re-learn the principles behind them.
other useful study materials:
Chad's videos
Dat Destroyer
there are also tons of posts on these and the other usual suspects.

Just like arjay said.

Your 16 DAT tells me you need to start over.

Do these following:

1. Go to course saver . com and subscribe chad's videos.
Watch his videos (MATH, CHEM and Orgo) and take your notes. Try his quizzes when you are done with your notes.

2. Read AP biology. The key point is, you need to take notes while you are reading it. Just reading the material won't help if you don't understand them.

3. Do crack dat PAT. It is way harder than real DAT, so it will prepare you pretty good.

You do these three things above and try hard, then I guarantee you that you will get 19 or above.

Good luck

if you dont mind me asking, is english your native language?
