Would it be too late if I take the DAT in late Sept? My Kaplan courses start in late June and I have NO way of taking it any time earlier. A lot of people here have said not to take it later than Aug. is that really true? this is my second year applying and I don't want to no tget in again for taking the exam late this time.

That seems pretty late, however i think it will be ok if:
1. Call all of the schools that you are applying to and get on good terms with them. It really does help. Tell them when you are taking the test.
2. Fax your unofficial scores the day you get them, then call them to let them know.

Most schools are interviewing already then. You need to play your cards right. Taking it late is better and doing well is better than taking it early and not.

Maybe better advice though would be to forget the Kaplan course (in class). I did it and it is a waste of time. For the hours that you spend in class reviewing BASIC material, you could be absorbing way more pertinent info. Just my opinion. Good luck.

I want to be completly honest with you. If you didn't learn from last year mistakes let me help you out a little. Take the DAT Early and apply early if you want in. Don't give the schools any reason to look over you. Just imagine that they are deciding for their last spot between you and some other student that is just as good as you are. Imagine that the other dude has a DAT score that is satisfactory and they are waiting to see your score, but they know that you applied last year and didn't have good stats and your DAT score still isn't in...... What do you think they will do! Its all about risks, do they want to risk it on a dude who applies 2 years in a row and gets stuff in late or what!
