undefined12Well, I took the DAT Monday and I was pretty happy with my scores.
AA 19
PA 15
QR 17
RC 20
BIO 18
GC 19
OC 19
TS 19

all except for the 15 PAT that is, but still, as a whole I was pleased. My first choice is UT Memphis and not too many on this board are applying there. It is not an AADSAS school. I looked at the ADEA book Official Guide to Dental Schools, which indicated that the average TS is about 19 and average PAT is about 18 for almost all schools. This means that some people who get in have scores higher than that and some have scores lower than that. My GPA is 3.71, science GPA about 3.6 and I'm a dental hygienist. However, I am appying without a Bachelor's. So let me know what you guys think, and if there's anyone else from Tennessee out there!!!

Thanks,

Talia

Come on guys, won't someone tell me their opinion? I am really looking for honest answers. 😀 Am I too comfortable with that 15 PAT? I just really don't want to go through the whole process of taking it again. I studied intensely a week and a half before the exam and I took 2 of the 3 practice test from topscrore. Anyone ?

I know nothing about UT Memphis, and I don't think a lot of here do, so perhaps that's why you're not getting a lot of feedback. But I'll take a hack at it:

Based on Barron's Guide to Medical and Dental Schools (2003):
Avg total GPA: 3.3
Science: 3.2
Avg AA: 18
Avg PAT: 17

You:
Total GPA: 3.7
Science: 3.6
AA: 19
PAT: 15

Based on this, I think you have a good shot. Your GPA is way above their avg, and though PAT is a bit low, AA makes up for it, IMO. I have no idea how much not having a bachelor's degree plays into it. But they take as many in state as they can. Only 8 out of 80 were out-of-state, so that works in your favor. Ultimately, you should call UT Memphis and find how competitive you are cuz I'm only guessing.

I'm from Memphis and UT is one of the schools I am applying to. Your DAT scores are on par with the school. Your GPA looks very nice as well. Dental experience is also a plus. My suggestion... Call the admissions office and ask to speak with Wisdom Coleman. He is the dean of admissions. I've spoken with him before and he is a very nice guy. His personal number is on the website (well the number to his secretary is). He will answer all your questions. Other than that my only advice is if you havn't already applied do it soon.
