My DAT is in about 1.5 weeks and I haven't been doing as well as I hoped in RC and QR.

TopScore 1: 17 (mainly timing is what killed me)
CDR: Avg about 16-17 (so many tone Qs)
QR: Avg 16-17 (timing kills me)

I've been drilling QR and RC a lot. I've looked at other strategies (Vicviper's) , but I have a hard time trying them out on CDR since there are so many tone Qs. All I've got planned for this week are practice tests in the morning (8 from Mon to Mon), then go over answers, then take another RC and QR later on that day.

For those that tried the Vicviper strategy, did you read the Q and A before the passage or just the Q?

Imho, you cannot really improve your innate RC skills by a lot. If it was me, I would spend the next week trying to find the best strategy if you have not already and try to keep doing that.

QR depends on your previous math skills, I found it really easy to pick back up. You can definitely improve in a very short time if you do a lot of exercise.

What have you used to study? I took Princeton and its QR section had many tricks and short cuts that can speed the test taker. I am sure all other companies have the same tricks. Go back to your study materials and read the section all over.

u have a princeton DAT book?

I just took my Achiever #1 and I got owned in RC and QR.

RC: 14 :scared:
QR: 14:scared:

I tried doing Vicvipers strategy for the first passage, but I fell behind, decided to just read the passage, and then it just went downhill from there. I noticed for RC, I would skim the passage, but as I went through the questions, I wouldnt move on until I knew forsure it was right. I guess that's what took up a lot of my time.

For QR, I noticed that the calculator on Achiever sucked. I was playing around with it and I noticed that it cant do 200*.75. I hit C over and over, so I just moved to my windows calc lol. I didnt know Achiever has calculator issues too! lol In the middle of my QR, I felt that I was skipping a lot of the workd problems, and decided to get held down by some. Probably a big error there.

My main problem for both sections is timing and finding a strategy.
