Just graduated. plan on studying for 6-8 weeks from now so about july18-20 test date is in mind.

Would this be too late in terms of my application to take the test, assuming the score would be sent to schools in early august?

I'm taking mine on the 25th of July. I talked to the schools I'm interested in, and they said that isn't a problem. One of them even said they didn't start looking at applications until August because they wanted to get their D1 class settled first!

ive heard the same thing that most students in us take the test in august , so I guess it's safe to say it's better to take the test before august to have an even better chance but by no means July is late ; when they get to review your application in mid august you want them to see a great DAT score and hopefully you will get one of those late September/ October interviews!

I'm thinking most students probably do take the test in August, but likely during the end of their sophmore year right after most of them have just completed their pre-reqs. They then apply during the summer of their junior year, so the timing of the later DAT score isn't as much of an issue.

what if it's for the same cycle? Take me for example. Just finished my junior year, and studying for the DAT now. When would be the absolute latest to take it while being safe?

Personally, I wouldn't take it later than mid-July. By the time the scores are officially sent out your app wouldn't be complete until around August at that point.

Realistically, schools do not begin to review your application before mid-end July. It takes 4-6 weeks for AADSAS to process transcripts. So if you take your exam in August it won't be LATE but it won't be early either. Just focus on doing well, not rushing it and doing sub-par.

I took mine August 18th and had 4/9 interviews and will be going to school this august. Just make sure you're ready and you will be fine this cycle.

I took mine in September. Although I would advise against this, giving yourself some time to prepare is better than rushing it and not scoring well. Good luck!
