Hahahaha!! I am so happy right now. Words can't express!!!!!!!!! Thank you God!!! I know I had help from above.
I took my DAT today. This is what I got:
AA 23
TS 25
PAT 20
This is what I thought:
RC: I had the ******ed ethical passage. It was over 20 paragraphs and had a bunch of philosophical terminology that made me stare at the screen with a blank face. I know I could've scored higher if I didn't get that damn passage.
QR: IT WAS NOT THAT BAD!!!!! I learned from SDN that you should skip long word problems - that's what I did. I think I guessed on 15 questions!!!!!!! As long as you get the 25 right your awesome. DON'T TRY TO FIGURE OUT A PROBLEM- YOU EITHER KNOW HOW TO DO IT IN 5 STEPS OR LESS OR YOU DON'T AND IF YOU DON'T THEN SKIP IT! The way I prepared was making sure that I could multiply FAST in my head, so I practiced the multiplication table. This might sound funny, but I used to multiply big numbers like this: 12 * 9 = 3 * 4 * 9.
Remember: speed is key here. I also used a Kaplan SAT math prep book. It was good. I'd recommend it.
PAT: like Crack DAT PAT.
GC/OC: I am pretty pissed off about OC. (Please don't take that the wrong way). I am just mad because there were 2 wrong problems in OC. I am 100% sure they were wrong, and if I posted them here, you would agree. But anyway, OC/GC are my strong points.
Bio: Used the Kaplan blue book AND Kaplan bio MCAT book. There were three questions that were in the MCAT book and not in the blue book. Basically the Kaplan MCAT book goes into 150% more detail than the DAT blue book (but it does not cover plant physiology or taxonomy). So what I am trying to say is complement with these two books. Understand them inside and out and you will get a score like mine.🙂
By the way, I had the FRAP question. Not that bad. Just read up on it and understand WHY it's an important assay and what possible information can it tell you about the cell membrane.
By the way, I will probably be selling my study materials (I will first check with my pre-dental friends, to see if they want to buy them).
Materials I used:
Kaplan
Kaplan MCAT bio book
Schaums Bio (only read one chapter, but heard it's helpful)
Achiever
Destroyer - overrated. The only good thing here is the OC. Bio is riddled with mistakes (14 in total)
Practice test scores: Achiever and Kaplan test were a close approximation:
AA/PAT/QR/RC/BIO/GC/OC/TS
Kaplan Diagnostic: 19/14/18/18/19/24/25/22
Kaplan midterm: 17.67/21/15/18/20/24/20/20
Test 1: 21/22/21/19/23/23/25/23
Achiever 1: 22/17/22/22/24/23/23/23
Achiever 2: 20/18/20/17/20/19/28/21
Achiever 3: Only QR: 19
Anyway, let me know what you guys think. I know its a good score. But I am applying late. I still need to send it my secondaries. Do you think I will get considered for this cycle. I mean, most people already had their interviews.
Let me know.
