DAT limbo

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I spoke with Temple Admissions, and they told me a competitive candidate has a 3.2 GPA and scores around a 19 avg. on the DAT.

You'll definitely get an interview...just prepare well for it and blow them away. good luck.

BIO: most similar to achiever, got frog amnion, cheeta genetic one. lots of genetics, kapaln was not enough. i am surprised i got a 19

GCHEM: very similar to kaplan stuff, you should be good to go

OCHEM: easy, very similar to kaplan stuff again

RC: got finance/stocks, cancer, and autonomic system. wrote done topics for the first passage (cancer) on paper, and just went straight to the questions on the other two cuz i was running low on time

QR: easy, thought i did better than 18. not many word problems. lots of algebra

PAT: easy, just manage time. i had to guess on the pattern folding because i wasted too much time

can you tell us a little more detail about the passages.

PAT 16
QR 18
RC 20
BIO 19
GC 20
OC 25
TS 21
AA20

3.38 cum, 3.34 science, 3.45 bcp

chance in hell? anybody?

Those are solid scores. Your only weak score is your PAT, but a 16 is still the average - the rest of your scores are mostly in the 80 - 90 percentile range. Plus you have a solid GPA. You'll get some interviews and you should get in somewhere. Congrats on being done.

the cancer one was very simple. it discussed proto-oncogenes, research done on cancer, and what people believed cancer was a result of. this was very easy. there were detailed and inference questions. it was possible to search for the answers straight up

the economics one discussed financial terms like EPS or dividend yield. basically it was asking you to define each one. the passage was set up with a lot of numbers and equations. this one was hard to search for the answers straight up, but i stayed with it

the last passage was really easy. it was about the autonomic nervous sytem: para and sympathetic. u didnt have to read the passage to know about 50% of the answers. some were detailed, but just searching for the answers straight up is possible.

my friend had these three too, so if u get one i'm sure you'll get others

if anyone is interested in my topscore or kapaln or any other portions of the REAL DAT, let me know and i'll analyze it

Hey afrosheen! I think I possibly got the same exam as you, if thats possible. Haha. I had those same questions on biology and the EXACT same three articles on the RC section.

Your overall academic average is still a 20, which is in the 90%. I think you'll be okay. You can possibly look into schools with lower PAT scores. Some schools do have a higher preference for higher AA than PAT. GOOD LUCK!

CONGRATS on your ochem score! It's awesome!
