So I have a science DAT score of around 16, but am getting around a 22 in math, reading, and the PAT, anyone know how bad that'll hurt me? or if some schools would be better to apply to than others i.e. some schools just look at total score, or value PAT/reading/math higher?

so have you actually taken the DAT, or are these practice tests?

if you have taken the dat, does around 16 mean 16? can you give us the actual breakdown score for each section and TS and AA? GPA?

sure. GPA's real low. a 2.97, i already am setting myself up to apply to the howard, meharry, temple schools considering i'm Indian and even then, i know my chances aren't the best...

I'm taking the DAT in two days, this is the score from the Kaplan practice tests.

PAT: 22

RC: 22

good luck on the dat. i found the science sections on the real dat to be easier than the practice tests i took. i took 3 top score and 1 or 2 kaplan practice tests.

so, in my case, sciences went up on real test.

good luck

your score should go up a bit.

Also remember the DAT shouldn't be looked at as purely an application requirement. It is also a marker of "am i ready to move onto the next set of sciences" that make up a bulk of your first year of dental school???

If it doesnt go so well...study more and get that Science up and combine that with your good PAT, QR, and RC and you will have a seriously unstoppable DAT score.

Your GPA is low, so you have to prove yourself. The DAT gives you that opportunity.

Yeah, I found most of the science on the real thing to be a bit easier than on Kaplan, especially the gen chem. However I found ochem on the real DAT to be harder than Kaplan, even though I got the same score on both tests. Just to give you an idea ... this is how I did on Kaplan's final vs. my real DAT.

my Kaplan final exam:
BIO 18
GC 17
OC 19
PA 22
RC 22
QR 18
TS 18
AA 10

my real DAT (ten days of studying later):
BIO 22 👍
GC 21 👍
OC 19
PA 22
RC 23
QR 17 👎
TS 20
AA 21

As you can see, my gen chem and biology went up from my Kaplan final while my ochem stayed exactly the same. I attribute this to heavy, heavy studying for gen chem in the last few days before the exam (I scored a 16 in gen chem on my previous DAT and definitely wanted to pull that up).

Nice job on the DAT, but I found the Kaplan final to be unusually easy compared to their other tests. Especially the Bio on it.

Indian as in Native American?

I was just giving the OP my test scores as an example. I realize everybody will feel differently about a given exam. Everybody has their individual strengths and weaknesses within a given subject.

I had a similar experience with Kaplan.

Practice final scores:
PAT: 21
QR: 20
RC: 22
Bio: 19
G Chem: 18
O chem: 19

Real DAT scores:

PAT: 20(85.4)
QR: 19(84.9)
RC: 25(98.5)👍
Bio: 21(91.7)
GC: 24(95.2)👍
OC: 22(91.5)
TS: 23(98.2)👍
AA: 22(96.4)

On a practice exam I took just 5 days before the real one, I got 15 on O chem and G chem. It's just a matter of focus. Good luck.

Nope. I've found that my India Indian doesn't mean squat. (i'd be happy to stand corrected if this isn't the case)

So here are my 'official' scores via prometric. do i stand a shot anywhere? esp with my kick ***** PAT score?

PAT: 26
QR: 18
RC: 21
BIO: 16
GC: 17
OC: 16

TS: 16
AA: 17

someone ( i think the kaplan tutor i had) told me the PAT was 50% of the score-is this true? it'd really make my week if it was...

Looks like you did about what everyone said, raised a point or two. Sorry to say but with your GPA i am afraid your going to have to retake. 😳
