Hi,

I have recently been thinking about writing the MCAT. I was wondering if any of you have taken the MCAT after the DAT, and how you adapted to the harder testing style, as well as the topics that aren't focused on in the DAT (CARS lol, Physics, Psych, Soci, Bio techniques etc). I did fine on the DAT (23 AA, 24TS, 21 PAT) but I know the MCAT will be a LOT rougher.

I don't want this to turn into a dentistry vs medicine thread. I still love dentistry and I haven't abandoned it (I haven't even registered for the MCAT lol) but I'm from Canada where professional schools are competitive AF and just wanted to keep doors open. I have recently started a job that has given me some exposure to medicine and I'm finding it intriguing, but who knows, could be jaded later. Still loved dentistry shadowing and will try to get even more dentistry exposure 🙂

Thanks!!

EDIT: Working two jobs which equate to over 40 hours per week so I would only be reviewing lightly 🙁

If you are serious about MCAT. You need to quit one of these jobs. It's either the jobs or your future as a doctor.
I understand I have plan B as well. Wishing Plan B was Plan A, but that's that.
Nobody can tell you which is harder unless he's taken both of these tests and even that would be subjective.

But I guess, MCAT is harder, but on the plus side, there is no PAT in it.
Take 3 months of your life to prepare for it and you'll be golden.
I think the medical forum will be more helpful for you on how to start.

One final thought. A person who did well on dat can do well on mcat if he puts in the same devotion to preparing.

If you put in the effort, you can achieve anything. Just like ^ said, I would check out the mcat forums to get a better idea about the mcat and then make your plans from there.
