The most commen question about the dat is how detailed does it go?
ok from experience I took the DAT 3 times.

the first time I took the DAT i came back and said man they didnt even go into detailes(i am talking about the SCIences only) and my reason of taking 3 times was due to RC/math. When I said not too detailed I mean like for bio they asked stuff that are covered in every bio class, like where is bile produced or rank the biomes from low to highest alt, or rank things from the food chain or things like that(by the way they are not direct questions i am saying stuff like this.

my second try I told my self I will not study details and I will not read everything, and I swear I might only did destroyer for bio and got 21, again I came out and said not detailed at all.

watch outtttttttttt

I had to take it a third time, this time I was scared and didnt want to lose a chance so I covered everything even for bio from kaplan and other books. Guess wa man the first 15 questions in bio I was like wa the f, I was almost about to cry I was saying to myself why GOD I just came here to increase RC why this hard version, man questions were toooooooo detalined like about the fatty acids, hard genetics questions, 3 biom questions, and plants I never heard of.

my point.

never take a chance and study everythinG!

by the way I got a 20 on that third exam miracle and a 21 on RC, and got accepted to my top school 7 min. away from home.

when did you take the test the third time? congrats on getting in!

also, are the questions on the dat: all of the above, none of above, two of above? or mostly its just simple a, b, c, d?

thanks!!

UGH I hate those "two of the above" questions!

i specifically remember.... for bio at least, I did not have a single question that was all of the above. and I agree... all of the questions required you to know the basics and then some. it was stuff like "Given the following situation.... determine the best reason why that would happen." It was really conceptual.

How did you improve your RC and QR?? I am especially weak in QR and I take the DAT in a week!!!!! HELP!

I got several pms regarding how I improved RC and QR

RC- luckly the third time I had easy passages, one was 9 para only, and what someone told me to do is to first number the sheets 1-15, then read the first question, then start reading the first paragraph(record the most important words like 3 or 4 on the sheet on number 1. Then go and read question 2, and go read paragraph 2 and write the words. So you basicly read a quesion then one para, then one q then one para, while writing keywords from the para's.
how does this help: for the first passage: I did that and I read the first 5 questions and para, and no answers were in the first 5 para for the first 5 quesions, ITS OK---- then I got to para 6 and things started to appear, and as I went down I would say on I rember reading about this quesion for example: I was in para 6, then I saw the word or topic that I remeber reading in quesion 2, so -I go back to quesion 2 and answer it.
-for one of my passages-as I went down the answers just poped up for each quetion really fast

The trick- number your grid 1-15,keep the numbers and erase the words you wrote for the first passage, and write for the second passage using the same numbrs to save time.

--BUt-- you might say what about if I finish the three passages early and i earsed the first 2. well here what someone told me to do, he said its okay no need to look back to passages one and 2. The first try, you need to spend as much time focusing on answering all the question in passages 1 and 2. most of the time the hardest passages are 1 and 2 anyway. However you need to at least leave 12 min for passage 3, so if you missed 1-3 questions in passages 1 and 2 its okay. do passage three and if you finish early just review oassage three over and over.

QR- wrong person to ask

for RC if you still need help please ask!

I forgot to saw that the idea of not earsing is: my problem and many people have this, we would write words for the passages and end up having hard time to read them, bec things get close and smeared.

if you number 1-15 on both sheets you would leave huge space between the numbers so you can write big words that you end up reading!
