I'm taking the DAT in 3 weeks and I'm struggling hardcore with ochem. Destroyer is kicking my butt. My prep (as advised by so many ppl) was CHAD...... Took thorough notes from his vids and reviewed them. But I don't think those vids are enough!!!!!! Am I losing it?? Destroyer seems to have alot (some?) concepts that I don't recall being covered in chad's.

I have Kaplan blue book (I feel like Chad was better than Kaplan) and my practice problems are coming from Destroyer. I've graduated from college and I don't have any textbooks 😳 yikes

What to do???!!!!!

Any advice is much appreciated!!!!!

I have been told by everyone I know that have done Destroyer and taken the DAT that destroyer is quite a bit more difficult than the DAT. Everyone that has done Chads seems to think it was good prep. Have you done a topscore practice test to see where you stand instead of judging based on the destroyer?

CHAD is enough. Then try to squeeze whatever you can get out of Destroyer. CHAD definitely teaches you the concepts for sure, however, you need to internalize those concepts first as a foundation, and then try to do as many problems as possible.

Ochem is a lot about...practicing with problems and reactions. Just having CHAD talk about how certain functional groups react and whatnot won't be the same as you trying to apply that knowledge to problems that you haven't seen before.

I did do Destroyer, but I didn't have enough time to fully go through everything again the day before, and I mainly reviewed CHAD. So on the DAT, I thought CHAD was more helpful than Destroyer.

Destroyer is meant to be hard, but you'll learn to catch certain things and certain mistakes so you don't make them on the DAT.

How are you doing in your practice tests? Try the sample ADA to see your score for Organic Chemistry.

I have to say that Chad is a solid review but I still reviewed all my old class notes + hw when I was taking organic.
I think the Kaplan Blue Book for some of the reactions are very useful info and worth taking a look but it all depends on the textbooks itself... gotta know reactions + the concepts and understanding from chads

If you feel pressured, i would delay it but keep in mind that Destroyer's questions are tougher than the real exam.

Memorize the road map in the Destroyer and retain everything that Chad says. Do his quizzes. I think this may be enough for 20 really.

Real deal won't be crazy as the Destroyer questions but I still think it is a good practice.

Don't use KBB as the main source but I think it is helpful in a sense that it gives an overview of all topics covered.

Good luck!

Thanks, everyone for your opinions! I feel much better knowing that Destroyer is supposed to be hard!! I heard topscore was similar to destroyer so I didn't buy it.... Trying to save money for those apps. Will be taking the ADA one this weekend.... Is there any site from where I can get old tests for free?? I think the one on the website will cost me$??
