Hey everyone, it's a shame I didn't stumble upon this board earlier! It's awesome that so many motivated pre-dents are on here sharing advice and experience.

I'm taking the DAT on Wednesday (6-21) and hopefully finish up my AADSAS shortly after that. I'll admit I'm slightly intimidated by the scores that most people post on here, 20+ is awesome. Thus far I have taken 2 legitimate practice tests.

The first I took about 1.5 weeks ago. It was the Kaplan practice test on CD that came with the book. Before I took the test I studied everything in the book once over, then I just took a stab at the test. I scored 18AA, 20PA. Not bad considering I didn't study thoroughly and I blatantly guessed on a number of gen chem, pattern folding, reading comp, and quant (time was a factor).

Then I went back and reviewed everything. Yesterday I took the ADA practice test. Personally I thought the test was easy. I scored 20AA, 23PA.

Then I stumbled upon this board. I wish I knew about DAT Achiever and Topscore earlier! I only have one practice test left, the one on Kaplan's website.

My questions are:

Are those 3 practice tests good indicators of how I'll do on the DAT?

What should I focus on now? Take my last practice test then just study everything over again?

Any other free-practice tests I can find online?

I really want to get a 20+ on both sections. I have a 3.55 non-sci GPA and a 3.215 sci GPA at a top 20 university.

Schools I'm looking at: Michigan, Detroit Mercy, Marquette, BU, Tufts, Nova, Case, Temple, Pitt

ANY ADVICE is much appreciated!

From what people have said around here, Topscore is very similar to the difficulty and setup of the real test. DAT acheiver is harder than the real thing, but a great study tool! You have maybe a day or two left of studying assuming that you'll just relax the day before, so its really up to you if you want to buy those programs for some last minute practice.
good luck

Only you can know if you're ready or not. Personally, I havn't taken the actual DAT yet, but Topscore and Achiever have been excellent study tools for me.

It might be in your best interest to reschedule (if you sstill can), but again only you can know that.

Additionally, the Kaplan book is regarded by most as not sufficient for the Bio section unless you remember a ton from your pre-req classes.

Yes, I have heard that about Bio too. I've been scoring 18-20 in my Bio practice. I've been using my actual bio text to fill in the blanks. I think that should be sufficient. How much is topscore/achiever?

i believe achiever is $49.99..n topscore is around the same..maybe 50ish? i'm taking DAT on the same day with u.......ahh, so nervous! i dun think i'm prepared

Come on! You can do it! Haven't you pulled an all-nighter before? Ha, I wouldn't recommend it for the DAT, however.

Be sure to prime your mental game AND academic game.

I just took the DAT on saturday, I scored
24 OChem
20 Bio
20 Gchem
20 RC
18 QR
AA 20
SNS 21
PAT 19

Here is what my thoughts are. The ADA practice test was a gimmie. I would have scored a thirty on the real thing if that was how the real thing was.

Top Score PRO 👍
TOP Score Pro Reading Comp; 👎
They don't give you implied detail and main idea and tone questions.
Kaplan Bio 👍
You can literally get a million different questions on the same subject in biology. Go over as many samples as possible!
Kaplan Ochem 👎
They over did it here, I didn't get any BIOChem at all! I am kind of mad I wasted weeks studying all that!
Kaplan Gchem 👎
You won't have calculations that you can't do quickly. No rounding to the 4th decimal place etc.
Kaplan PAT 👎 👎
The real thing rocked me! The monitor was a low resolution and the angles were impossible.

Anyway,
Good Luck!
