So I just took my DAT today! And I am overall happy with the AA. But it's the few individual scores I am worried about::

PAT 17 (41.9) 😡😡😡
QR 19 (91.2) 😱 (Did not know a 19 is considered that high?)
RC 22 (84.4)
Bio 17 (49.2) 😡
GChem 23 (95.4)
OChem 20 (79.9)
TS 19 (75)
AA 20 (87.6)

I am very upset about my PAT. I don't what happened or what went wrong... and now I am worried for schools. I think I heard that 17 is the cutoff for MOST places, but I am turning to SDN for confirmation?

Any idea what cutoffs I might be looking at for this cycle? Esp for PAT.

My GPA is actually below average, but a steady upward trend.

I am a double major too (Biology and African Languages and Literature), if that would play a factor in anything..

I have a ton of shadowing and volunteering.

I already applied, so I am a super early applicant, to maximize chances...

I really do not want to retake a 20.. Esp with those strong GChem and Ochem scores.

Any input/advice?

doesn't look that bad to me. Congrats. I would take those scores. haha. So was your QR algebra heavy or trig/geometry heavy?

Apparently they're eliminating a lot of the trig/geometry stuff and including more critical thinking type questions. They're pretesting for the future so thankful all the outrageous questions wont be included in the score. But thats what the word on the street is lol

So my calculated ADEA-AADSAS GPA is 3.25. So not that great, but like I said, I have a steady upward trend with 2 majors on my plate, along with volunteering.

I have already applied to:
Midwestern (Chicago and AZ)
LEUCOM
Marquette (I just want to see if I can get into my local school)
Western
NYU
Boston
I think I have one more school, but I cannot remember!

My QR was super algebra heavy. The probability question was a joke (about flipping a coin) and even the trig questions were super simple.

I personally wouldnt retake the DAT, because most cuttoffs are about 17 and you seem to have scored 17 or more and your chemistry section is looking good. The one thing I would be skeptical is the 17 in BIO but still wouldnt retake it.

If I may, you should throw some more schools in there in case such as:
Tufts, Loma linda, UNE.

Pretty solid scores, be happy and enjoy your summer (what's left of it anyway) 😀 I agree with the poster above though, if anything calls for concern I'd say it's the biology section. PAT priority seems to be pretty low among a lot of schools (or highly variable anyway), but I don't know many schools that would say biology isn't very important 😛 Your other sciences are very good though, and your RC is also good so I think you are perfectly fine. Good job and good luck!

+1.
I think you should be more worried about bio than PAT

You really shouldn't worry about a retake! you meet the cutoffs for all, if not most of all schools very nicely!! Don't even risk thinking about a retake.

Did you encounter any obscure questions/topics in bio? What sources did you use to study and how long did you study?

Really good job on your scores!!! You did very good!! Congrats!!

I definitely am worried about Bio too. It was a killer, with such RANDOM questions..

I think I will just call and ask the 8 schools I applied to and see what they think/suggest!

Ahh, I knowww I do NOT wanna retake because it won't help my AA, not to mention if I can't pull off those GChem and Ochem scores over.. that would be sad..

Bio was pretty random. There was more than needed questions on the reproductive system!
And nothing on mitosis/meiosis. One question on HardyWeinberg...
It was a very random 40 questions.

Bio I used a lot of Random things: Cliff's, Kaplan Blue Book, Princeton Book, DAT Destroyer. Idk if that might have played a factor with the score?

GChem- Princeton Book and CHADS VIDEOS. BEST THING EVER.
Ochem: Princeton Book and CHADS VIDEOS.
(Seriously, cannot stress how important those videos and quizzes are)

PAT: Crack DAT PAT. I was getting 20s on all the exam, and them bombed the actual... So, I don't know how to rate this... Cube counting was easier on DAT. TFE was so hard, as with pattern folding.

RC: I used DAT Qvault, and I honestly thought they represented the content well, difficulty and questions. I know people say it's not, but I thought it was. I got 20s on my DATQvault exams. And pulled a 22 on the actual.

QR: Math Destroyer. Seriously. Questions straight out of the book. But easier. I am shocked at the score i got for math. Destroyer was hard, but then I guess doing all those exams paid off.

I also skimmed Ochem Oddessey for Ochem, and DAT Destroyer for Gchem and Ochem.

S/O to DAT Bootcamp. Ari is amazing. I used his exams and they really represented the exam well.

I studied SUPER hard my winter break. Finished the entire Kaplan Blue book.
Then during the semester, I studied a bit everyday.
My exam was originally scheduled for April, but family issues came up so I moved it to May, and then moved it again till my July date!

May-July 4th. I worked like NONE other. Seriously, locked at home in my basement 8hrs/day.
And 2 weeks before the exam upped the time more..

It paid off for the most part!
