I just took my first Crack The DAT PAT test and I got a 12. Im sooo upset. How do I improve on the Top Front and End view? I literally don't understand on how to do it! Its soo stressful. The only section I do good is the hole punch and the cube counting. Everything else is impossible. Is the DAT just not for me especially the PAT? Should I give up? Are there any general rules that I should master that would help like any strategies? Even YouTube videos don't help. Thanks.

you're just starting! don't freak out - this section takes some time, but its the type of thing that the more you do the more you get it. use datbootcamp and datgenius for their more thorough explanations, but don't worry about how many you get right as bootcamp and genius are actually slightly more challenging then the actual dat pat - just use them for their explanations to get an idea on how to solve the different sections. then go back to crack dat pat as its easier, and do their practice tests. then go back again to datbootcamp and datgenius and use their tests to really prepare yourself so you can get a higher score.

talk to any friends you have / people at your school's predental club for help. It's the type of thing that 30 minutes - 1 hour of chatting with someone who gets it can drastically change your understanding.

I was in the same situation as you. I took a the free PAT exam on DAT Bootcamp and scored a 16. The TFE along with the Pattern folding made no sense what so all. What helped me was the TFE generator. Don't worry about any tricks for the TFE type of problems. Just practice and you will learn to visualize it. There are strategies for pattern folding, hole punching, and angles. There are strategies for the TFE such as counting horizontal and vertical lines but I don't think they are that helpful. Just try to visualize it using the generators. You don't need an explanation for your wrong answer. They provide the 3D object and you can figure out the views from there. I used to get 1 in 2 wrong on the generators, in a week or two I am now getting 1 wrong in around 20 problems.

You can do it, dude! Try this for a little while for top-front-end. It helped me a lot and it'll probably help make things click perspective-wise.

Also go to youtube and search for different methods and tutorials for each section
