Hi,
I just took the PAT test from the Crack PAT software, and it was the first time and the first i took using this software and i got 18. So my question is as follows: Is this a good score for a start up?

I would like to know if there any strategies on improving for the PAT section. I seem to be weak at Keyhole, Cube counting where i got the lowest scores. I also am not satisfied with the Top.End.Bottom section either, although i got the highest score (14/15). So please advice. Does anyone know of a book that has some strategies written down especially for these PAT section, so as to improve my score much faster?

Thanks

I don't know of any books, but with practice you'll get better. Someone made a post here which helped out a lot of people for the pat. I forgot what it's called but you can do a search I guess. Good luck.

for first time, it is a good score. 👍

I got a 17 on my PAT on the real DAT (didn't use Crack DAT PAT). I am retaking and bought CDP. The first test I got an 18 (6 months after taking the real thing without reviewing it at all)... I don't know if this gives you any insight in your standing or not... since then i got 19, 19, 20... so it seems to be helping.

If cube counting is lowering your score then you should be good, because I feel this is the easiest to correct. I think Kaplan has an effective strategy (I have been getting 15/15, except on some of the weird illusion questions that CDP... none of these were on the first test so you will find out about them real soon).

Kaplan Method for cube counting:

Make a table, for 0 sides painted, 1 side painted, etc. to 5 sides painted on the vertical axis (6 sides cannot be painted). Now count all the cubes and write that number down. Now go through each cube and tally it in on your table. When you are done with all of the cubes, count the tallies and make sure it matches the number you wrote down earlier. You can then use this table for the next couple of questions. You just have to make sure to be careful counting or you can really screw everything up. And of hopefully you know the rules of cubes you can't see: you count cubes that need to be there to support other cubes.

I have no suggestions for keyhole, you just have to visualize the top, front, and end projections and figure out what it would look like. I always just go straight to the answers and think if it would be possible for it to fit in, rather than visualize what it should look like first... don't know if this helps or not but it seems to work for me. You just have to make sure to look at EVERY detail because they intentionally put some on there that are VERY close to throw you off.

Oh yeah... look up "My wicked sick PAT tutorial" in the search, it has some pretty good explanations of some things.

Hope this helps.
