I took the DAT today and here are my scores:

AA: 22, 98.7%
PA: 17, 72.0% 🙁
QR: 19, 85.5%
RC: 24, 97.5%
Bio: 22, 98.7%
GC: 23, 96.4%
OC: 23, 97.1%
TS: 23, 99.4%

I've noticed that other PAT scores of 17 have been around the 50% percentile. Is a score of 17 with a 72% ok? I was wondering if I should retake to get a better PAT score. Thanks for your input.

Awesome job, Calbear!!! Don't worry about the percentiles associated with each score. They change with each testing cycle (it seems to be about every six weeks or so) and schools don't pay much attention to them. Your PAT score is comfortably average but your other ones are extremely solid and will bode very well for you. Congratulations! 👍

yeah those r some kick ass scores..i wouldn't worry about the pat..i also got a 17..weird though that mine was in the 50th percentile and yours is 72nd..awesome job man!

This is weird, i dont get it,i got a 20 on bio, 25 on chem, 29 on orgo, how come my TS is 22? can someone shed some light on this dude right here

bio is weighted more... 40q's d00d. not exactly sure how the numbers add up to 22TS, but i know that bio lowered ya a little. excellent work in any case!

Excellent scores calbear! How did you prepare yourself for the exam?
Great job!

Great scores! don't wory about your PAT, you are just fine. Plus I think while 17 is supposed to be the 50% mark, people tend to not do as well on that section overall, so that is why 17 has been yielding about 70%. My percentile was higher for what it should be for that section too (when i took it in june)

You TS score is calculated by taking how many you missed overall. So ilets say you get a 30, 30, and a 15.

(30+30+15)/3 = 25.

But that is not how they calculate scores. They take how many you missed total. In that example you would have missed 0 on two sections and 15 questions on that third. Thay would mean -15 of 100 questions and you would end up with a 20 or so.

In your case, although you got a very high 29 (perfect score in that section) you missed maybe 7 questions on bio and 1 question in GC, meaning -8 out of 100. that would make a 22.

The OP got a 22, 23, 23. That means they missed 3, 2, and 2, respectively, giving them a TS (-7 out of 100) of 23.

Note that I am estimating these numbers, but I bet that my guess is somewhat close

Great job!

I bought the Kaplan bluebook and used two other prep books from my local library. The science review in the Kaplan was good, but the QR review in a 5 year old Williams & Wilkins book was much better. I recommend as much computer practice as possible, esp. for the PAT.

I was told by the administrators and ADA that wrong answers wasn't part of the calculations of the scores.. that it was based on how many questions you answered correctly... I specifically remember the person telling me before starting the test... "wrong answers don't affect your scores so make sure you answer all your questions..." an advice I was unable to follow on QR where i didn't answer the last 5 questions... hmmm oh well.
