Hey,

I am taking the DAT on August 8th 2014 (7.5 days). I have just purchased TopScore.
I have also (almost) watched all of Chad's Orgo and General Chemistry videos with the quizzes.
I am working on DAT Destroyer for the Sciences and DAT Math Destroyer.
I also have been using Crack DAT PAT.

At this point I am looking to triage to get the most of my next 7 days to kill the exam. Any suggestions?

Thank you and hope to hear from you soon!

Regards,

Abdul Karim Khan

Honestly it depends on what you're bad at. You should take a TopScore full length practice test and identify which sections need work. Then go from there. I'd suggest other practice tests like DAT bootcamp and qvault for bio as well

Edit: DAT destroyer might be a little overkill for you seeing as you have little time left IMO

What would you suggest is the best comprehensive review for Biology at this point?

Go back and retake Chad's quizzes as a refresher of the basic principles, read the explanations, and re-watch the video for any quiz you don't feel you did well on.

As far as bio goes use DAT Destroyer as I've heard it's very detailed but should be used cautiously with this much time before the exam. Use it to fill in any knowledge gaps you have.

@karimkhan8 Word of advice: Stay anonymous on this site as is the intent of most users. Don't wan't to blast yourself on a forum site to a bunch of trolls.

My test is this Friday August 8
I have the following materials:
- DAT Destroyer (Done 1/3 of each section)
- DAT Destroyer Math (Done 4/ 15 exams)
- DAT Crack PAT (Done 2.5 tests)
- Chad's Videos (Watched almost all of Ochem and Chem, still need to complete Ochem quizzes)
- Top Score Pro

Here are my results from my first full length (TopScore Pro) and I am freaking out. I have a solid 6 days to do as much damage control as I can
Test Section Standard Score
1 Biology 16
1 Chemistry 18
1 Organic Chemistry 13
1 Total Science 16
1 Perceptual Ability 18
1 Reading Comprehension 25
1 Quantitative Reasoning 20
1 Academic Average 18

Please help on what I should do for the next 6 days. I'm considering Qvault, Achiever, and BootCamp....

7 days is plenty of time to study for the DAT ... IF... You finished organic chem, bio/ anatomy and trig last semester. Those are the exact classes I took during the spring and I could have done exactly the same (20) had I studied for a week. Review chads chemistry notes and make a formula sheet and know how to use each one. Review destroyer organic chemistry roadmaps, however, don't continue to do destroyer. It is way overkill and will make you learn far too much extra information. As I stated above, I just got done with biology last semester so I can't give you much advice on that because I didn't study for it, however, I bet cliffs would suffice. I had about 3 or 4 anatomy questions on mine so hopefully you have taken that class. With your remaining time, go over every bootcamp section. Take each test timed and go over each question whether it's right or wrong. Make sure you master hole punching for pat using bootcamp generator, that should be an easy 15 questions (the dat is much harder than bootcamp though, FYI). At this point you should have about 3 days left. Hopefully you didn't go over bootcamp QR because it is too hard and won't help you much. Do math destroyer test 1-4, not timed, and go over all the formulas in destroyer except ellipses and you will be fine ( know the questions about mph/ average mph). If you haven't taken/ don't remember trig stuff, begin praying, in my opinion, this is your only chance. I hope this helps, if you have any other questions let me know

Thanks a lot bro. I will definitely get right on BootCamp. I have not taking Anatomy yet but I guess it is what it is at this point and I just have to work with what I have!

7 days is plenty of time to get through your materials. Go over the chems and Bio in the Destroyer and make sure you understand the answer choices of the questions you got wrong. You can supplement Bio with cliffs or Feralis and Orgo with "Organic chemistry as a second language". You do that, you should be fine.

I'm sorry, but how did you do so bad on the OChem!? IDK how ochem is at Purdue but there must be some key concept you are missing out on or you are 2 years+ removed.
Schools have a minimum of 17 on sections so you are cutting it close. You might want to consider postponing the test (I know this is expensive). I'm not trying to be mean, just realistic. There is only so much you can do with so little time. Chads (if you took notes and STUDIED the material) will get you a 20 easily. Make flash cards. Taking practice tests wont increase your score if you don't actually know the material.

I'm not sure of your science background but I will tell you that if adcoms look at that TS they will assume it's not good no matter your GPA. The TS/AA for acceptance here in my state is 20/20.

Re-watch chad's ochem videos, he explains the concepts decently well.
As someone mentioned above, Feralis is good but might be too much to absorb. Anything that will stick at this moment will probably be pounded in facts like taxonomy or something which is surprisingly good because that's the DAT! 🙂

Edit: STUDY OCHEM, you can increase your score drastically just by getting the synthesis questions correct. Chad has a PDF of almost all the synthesis. Start with that. Keep us updated on how you're doing!

You are giving yourself little time. Doing 1/3 of each book is simply not enough. It is best if you can get through the whole material.

Is there a reason you're giving yourself one week to study before taking the DAT?

I can't comment on how accurate TopScore is (vs. the real DAT) because I didn't use it, but in terms of prep material, I would recommend Bootcamp. Achiever is overkill, especially if you only have a week.

How are you studying Bio? I'd definitely try to go over Cliff's at least once and maybe supplement any weak areas with Ferrali's.

Would definitely try to get through all of Destroyer. If you do 30 GC / 30 OC / 40 Bio problems each day, you should be able to get through the rest (or at least a big chunk) of the problems before your test.

the first third of the destroyer sections are the most difficult in my opinion. I think it goes by much quicker as you go deeper into each section. Mainly because a lot of the same topics show up in questions and you tend to get a feel for whats important. Good luck and kill it!!
