Hey everyone.. I am set to take the DAT mid August. I have already signed up for the Kaplan in-class course starting June 6th. I am currently in finals. I have about 2 weeks of class left. I plan on starting my hard core studyuing directly following finals. To tell you all the truth I am scared out of my mind!! I have a 4.0 science GPA, so i have def done well in my classes, but i feel that my long term memory is not great. I am not the best test taker.

i plan on studying 4-5 hours a day from May 12-mid August. does this sound like enough time? Also, what other study materials are worth my valuable study time? There are so many! I have seen some plans posted, but which one has given some of you success? I will do whatever it takes, i really want to score 20+!!!

Thanks so much for all of the advice. It is well appreciated.

No reason to freak out, 99% of us are people with same initial concerns as you: "my memory sucks" "horrible test taker" "I work like crap under pressure".... trust me MOST of us suffer from one of those variations.

The best I can tell you is if you want dentistry (and Im sure you do), your gonna have to force the DAT down your throat. I think you have a good game plan, but then again, its YOU who is going to study for the DAT. Is 4-5 hours enough? it is too much? too little? only you can answer those questions, and remember, they are mostly dependent on your science background.

My only advice to you is, DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE MATH SECTION. Many people do and its just sad to see people get high scores in the 20s where things matter the most (sciences and reading) and end up blowing their AA because of a stupid 15 on the math. Treat the math section the same way you treat your sciences.

I never used kaplan class so I don't personally know much about it, however some of the highest DAT scores around SDN were obtained mostly by people who used kaplan online course + kaplan diagnostic tests. Im talking about people scoring 25+AA who religiously used the kaplain online stuff.

Good luck on your finals and DAT

taking the kaplan class might be useful depending on the instructor but the best thing abt kaplan is their resources especially their review book and online subject tests.........you will have to do these again and again............and the above poster is correct do not underestimate the math section you will have to get the destroyer and math destroyer to do ur best in all sections..... Get topscore and Crack dat pat.......as well all this combined should be good enough for you........best of luck
