im not sure if my reading habits have changed or gotten better but i recently started using datqvault for practice ( reading) and get 13/16 14/16 on sections....... Is that normal? Is it considered much easier than the actual exam?

The reading comprehension section on test day is a crapshoot. You could be stuck with some physics passage or a whole slew of true and false statement questions. Focus on achiever's reading. Push yourself to get through the passages and do not spend more than 20 minutes on a passage. Be systematic. In all honesty, the reading section on the DAT measures how fast you can skim and answer questions, not really how well you absorb and understand the passage. I got an 18 on the real DAT if that makes you feel better.

In a word: Way. It's way too easy. Don't despair. The passages are long, maybe even a tad longer than what you see on the real exam. My question to you is, are your scores the way they are because you can't finish in time (guessing on a bunch at the end), is S&D too difficult a strategy, or is the subject material hard? Basically, what is the source of the problem? Answering this can help us help you. 🙂

I think you may have misread his post, he's asking how the dat qvault RC section compares to the actual exam. the 13/16 and 14/16 are his scores on the RC section (13 right out of 16), not the "estimated DAT score"

Ohh yep you're right. Well, the first part I stand by, I feel Dat Qvault is way too easy. To amend the second part, I would say don't get complacent with your scores because I got a 24 on the first one and a 21 on the real thing. Hope that helps! 🙂

BTW- nice avatar. I freakin' love birds. I want an aviary!

Qvault's RC was not only all search and destroy....the questions were also all in order with the passage.

I think I got 46/50 on the first RC, then 49/50 on the second, and just stopped doing them altogether.

My strategy for the real RC got me a 25, check it out in my breakdown under the RC section.

I took my DAT in July and I'd say that RC on Qvault was pretty much a good representation. I was scoring 20-22 on the qvault and scored a 21 on the DAT. It might be a little easier but depends on the passages in my opinion.
