will crack the DAT RC be enough to prepare for RC?
I really have no idea how to approach RC.
I'm just going to stick with search and destroy.
BUT i heard that recently, there have been alot of tone questions thus this method is risky...
will crack the DAT RC (10 exams) be enough! what other study materials should I use?
I don't want to use a book since using an online form like the real DAT and using a book has very different outcomes i believe since the strategy is different.

please help!
how did you approach RC? :scared:

Crack DAT Reading actually helped me a lot. Q-Vault reading was also a great place for me to practice timing. Topscore is probably the closest you'll get to the real reading, but save that for last.

Ah yes those tone questions. It was because of this I used a method where I just write out the paragraph numbers on the scratch piece of paper beforehand, skim each paragraph for no more than 30 seconds, and simply write down one word to describe each paragraph. Then you can use search and destroy to find the answers faster and hopefully since you already did the fast skim, you should have a fighting chance against those tone questions. However do not use this method if your passage is more than 13 paragraphs. I had one that was 22 long, so I had no choice but to use search and destroy without the outline. If you can't figure out the tone questions, simply make and educated guess, flag it, and go back to it after you answered everything else.

Yes, there's no way you can "learn" RC, but you can practice so you maximize your potential and figure out your method. I took the real DAT on May 4th, and there weren't very many tone/inference and it was mostly search and destroy. Just taking a few practice exams should be good enough.

Hi. Don't worry too much! 🙂 I was very worried like you because I'm a slow/not very strong of a reader, but I got a 24 on RC. I did 5 CDR tests and used them to develop my strategy- I read the passage then answered questions.

However, I think you really have to judge based on the passage you get. I got a passage that was over 20 paragraphs long filled with tons of info and knew I couldn't retain it all. So I ended up not using my strategy at all and did search and destroy. As for tone questions, yes, there are a few, but I thought they were very doable even using mostly search and destroy, since you end up somewhat skimming the passage while searching and destroying.

Honestly, don't worry too much about RC. Yes mine had tone questions, but they were super easy, like "what is the tone of paragraph 3? Analytical, Condescending, Sarcastic, Humorous" or something along those lines, and it was a no-brainer.

I'd recommend the outline method too, that's what I used. The only practice I did was Achiever, and I scored 15s and one 16. I pulled a 24 on the real DAT.

Just be sure you watch your timing.
