Since there is no way to improve your reading skills within few months, I really recommend you to practice it many times.
People are saying that CDR is a good way to prepare the test since they have tone/interference types of questions while TopScore only has search/destroy types of questions.
For me, as a non-native English speaker, I had hard time getting high score in RC section. Strategies that were mentioned on SDN literally didn't work with me.
So, what I did was skim first few questions and write "keyword" in each question on laminated paper. And then read entire passage with full attention to catch any keyword that were shown up on each questions.
When I encouter with tone/interference type of questions, I just skipped it and then come back to those questions later when I compeletely finished reading.
If you were able to get 39+/50, you will score 20+. So by not investing too much time on tone/interference types of questions, you will be able to get a decent score.
