DAT Reading

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I used both CracktheDAT and DATBootcamp. Out of those two, I thought CracktheDAT was much closer to the real DAT. DATBootcamp was just a terrible representation of what you'll see on the actual DAT.

I used bootcamp and read some research articles here and there for additional practice. Scored a 24

I used only bootcamp and went through all their reading content twice. Scored a 17 on the RC.

@DDSBrownloading I don't know about others, but my DAT wasn't like bootcamp, it was more straightforward. Just take a look at the official released 2007 and 2009 DAT exams released by the ADA, then compare them to bootcamp.

The only way to feel confident on test day during the reading section is to practice reading. As I have stated many times you need to have excellent speed and comprehension skills for the reading on the DAT. Taking a few timed test is not enough for most students. If you just start reading 30 minutes a day consistently you will be surprised how fast you skills will improve. Read what you like, books, newspapers, etc, the main objective it to read consistently.

There are many many different versions of the DAT and when a student gives their experience, it is just their one experience. Don't be fooled into thinking your experience will be exactly the same. Some passages may be easy search and destroy, while others may be not be so straight forward. Dentals schools expect a decent reading score so effort should be put into this section.

There is also many versions of the DAT in all sections and most students need a sufficient amount of time studying. It is rare indeed that a student can study a few weeks and score high on the DAT.

It is better to go into the DAT exam over prepared than under, this is not a test that you want ot fac more than once if you can avoid it.

Good luck to all that are preparing to face the DAT Beast!
