today is 7/25, my DAT is scheduled for 7/27, however i need it to be on august 5. i am in a bind here, basically i don't care if i have to pay the entire fee for another exam, so with the 48 hours rule, does this just mean i won't get my money back, or that i will just have to take the exam on 7/27. i'm fine with not getting my money back. i just cannot take this exam on on 7/27!!

has anyone else done this, has it worked, etc.

i am well aware there are other threads about this, but there are usually no follow-ups as to what happened, it's always pretty open-ended. thanks.

Oh that's horrible, I know how you feel being unprepared. Since it's within 48 hours, you will most likely have to cancel your test, and resubmit another fee. Sorry for the bad news, I know someone else who had to do this as well. You may want to call them to double check, they (Prometric/ADA) would know way more about it than anyone on this forum. Best wishes and good luck!

right but they're not open on sundays so that's why im posting here

BlackoutRuse, if you don't show up on 7/27 it is the same as a cancellation of the test. It WON'T count as 1 test taken (0 of 3). Just wait 1-2 days and register again...you will have to pay the full amount again though. August 7 might be booked if it is too close...just take it a few days after or ahead of august 7.

If you are still worried, call Prometric on Monday and ask them for further instructions on how to go about this.

this happened to me, and i forgot to cancel it. i called prometric the morning of my exam and i asked them what was gonna happen, and they said nothing. that it wouldnt show up on my record or anything, and that i would just have to pay the full amount again.
gluck buddy

Call Prometric first thing in the morning tomorrow, and try to see if an agent can reschedule you. I was just in your position last week, but when I called, I just simply asked if it was at all possible for the agent I talked to to reschedule. I was extremely nice and respectful, and she ended up rescheduling it for me, and didn't even charge me the $25 fee.

Of course, this is a case-by-case basis, but it wouldn't hurt to try! Good luck on getting it figured out 🙂

did you have to give a reason why

I told the lady I found out after the 48 hour limit that I couldn't take the exam on my scheduled date. I explicitly told her I was aware of the rules, but it would be very kind of her if she could override the 48 hour limit as it would be a financial burden if I had to miss the exam and pay another $285. I injected many "thank you's" and was very cooperative and patient when she put me on hold (for a long time, about 20 minutes!). In the end after talking to her manager/supervisor, she rescheduled the exam for me.
